What the actual Jeff? Egg biscuits for guinea-pigs and rabbits?

I was in the supermarket (as you do) .There isn't anything dried foodwise that I buy for the guineas.
They had treats (honey/seed/nut ones) which all the GP forums advice to avoid due to risk of choking, obesity and diabetes.

But they also had egg biscuits, first ingredient listed whole eggs.

They don't eat egg product do they? Confused . I've never given my GPs egg/egg products.
Maybe ferrets would? (Disclaimer:I know nought about ferrets Grin )

Ferrets definitely would, as would rats and I think hamsters But not GPs or rabbits as they are obligate herbivores.

Who had the bright idea of creating an egg-based treat and labellng it suitable for GPs/rabbits? Why would something that eats nothing but plants want such a high (animal) protein, high cholesterol product? The mind boggles Confused

I'm further concerned for the pigs/buns of people who see 'for GPs/rabbits' on the label and think they really are. There should be some kind of regulation on the (mis)labelling of animal foods/treats.

70 could you complain to the Supermarket? They may do something. GPs should not eat eggs at all. Not sure about rabbits.

I might take the details next time I'm there and write to the company.
The pack had different animals pictured on it (I remember reading that rat owners give them a boiled egg in a shell to "Tap and Unwrap" like a Terry's Chocolate Orange Grin.

But I read the wrapping over and was [shocked] to see GP and rabbits recommended.
(My GPs when I was a child used to like the dregs of a cup of sweet tea with milk. No-one told them they were lactose intolerant) Wink. They would balance on the edge of my dad's mug and streeetch their necks in. Never tipped it over either.
