Anyone who keeps their Guinea-Pigs in at night

I know some GP owners keep their piglets in all the time.
Ours are in at night, out during the day (we put them out all winter with a load of hay, hot water bottles and a fan heater to take the chill off first thing in the morning)
When we got them in October, they were in their pig-shed all night, IIRC they started coming inside for the night end November.

They have been out in the run over the weekend with boxes and a bathmat on the grass.
Their haynest is like a little oven when they nest in it.

So, when is it okay to leave them outside in the pig shed overnight?
We're in Essex, overnight temp about 8-9 C. That's a bit cold I think.
Should I leave it another few weeks, maybe till Easter holidays?

DH went to find them yesterday to put them in the run. He couldn't find them Grin Shock because the little swine had buried themselves right into the hay (it's about 12" deep). He thought they'd escaped from their Alcatraz style shed. Didn't know how to break it to DD Hmm

Also in Essex. Normally pigs live in their hutch in brick built gargage. Only ever put pigs on grass when its dry. Wet tummies not good. Draughts are worse than the cold. Piggies at risk from upper respiratory infections.

Having said all that our pigs are living in the house because the gargage is infested with mice at the mo. Have had our in the run too today as weather good.

Need any advice. Join Rodents with Attitude or Guinea pig Lynx websites.

Thanks.
I'm gauging it day-to-day at the moment.
On a work day the piggies go out at 6.30am and their house is nice and dry and cosy even then.

Ours have had an hour in the run this afternoon, checked their bellies and feet, both dry.
When they come in for the night they are warm (ears and feet) .

GP 2 does a little grunty snuffle hog sound-just to freak me out- but it's when he's found something interesting Grin. I fear the dreaded cold symptoms because that's what my old GPs had when they were on their road out, but they were all (bar one) old age pensioner pigs.

BTW- I have joined R.w.A. and will look into GP Lynx.

But Super Furry will answer any question no matter how off the wall it sounds!
