Had one of our rabbits PTS today

Very sad - she was her usual chipper self yesterday but this morning was lying on the ground trembling. Sad

Rushed her to the vet who said she was full of tumours and we should have her PTS straight away. Complete shock as she showed no outward signs whatsoever, until today.

Anyway, now of course I'm worried about the other one! They did their own thing really but will he be lonely? He's really unfriendly, unlike the other one who was really affectionate, and he won't let anyone get anywhere near him. He's quite keen on the dog, bizarrely, but humans - forget it!

Should I get another one. I don't want to particularly, but is it cruel to keep one on its own?

So sorry to hear that! Kindest thing to pts tho. Mine is a bit off colour today, no idea what's wrong, he just seems quiet. Not up to much.

Much sympathy. We lost one of our guinea pigs last week under similar circs, and I think it's astonishing how long they can go on seeming much their normal selves. Maybe they don't realise there's anything wrong?

Thanks!!

I am of course, now replaying yesterday, seeing if there was anything unusual about her, but there really wasn't. Ironically, when I was stroking her I told her she was too fat! She only liked her head being stroked, and whilst she looked big because her coat was so thick - the vet said she was really very thin Sad.

Aww sorry to hear your news. I asked a while ago on here because my rabbit lives on her own. After she's been spayed we're going to buy a new bigger hutch and run so it's 'neutral ground' and then she's going off to a rabbit rescue place for the day so she can pick a friend out herself. This is what our vet advised us to do, if she doesn't naturally make friends then we'll just bring her own on her own knowing she's ok! To be honest I'm not too sure she'll be bothered about finding another rabbit friend though, she's more than happy sitting in our laps and running around with our dog (supervised of course!)

Louby - that sounds ideal.

Our 'left' rabbit is really unfriendly. So much so, that I can't imagine picking him up. They have dug a dirty great burrow, so the first sign of stress - he'd be in there!

So my only option is to bring a rabbit here and hope for the best! He seems quite happy atm, but I am wracked with guilt..
