Farmways online:
I bought some Megazorb and a big bag of nice hay a while back.Got next day delivery- lovely.

I'm now looking at a grass substitute, we currantly cut some long grass for the GPs but it won't be long before thats not feasible.

Readigras for small animals is £2.99 for 1kg

BUT

Readigras for horses is £12 for 15kg.

P&P same for both.

I'd imagine the horse one isn't so refined or chopped as much.
It's on their small animal food section (and a +ve review from a GP owner)

I've looked at dried grass in P@H but TBH it just looked like straw

TIA

The 15kg one but only if you have more than two piggies. I struggled with 8 piggies to get through the whole bale during the winter. I was selling it to friends 50p a carrier bag full. They still need hay too.
I do not shop at P@H unless there is an offer on the Burgess dried food. I get a bale of hay from the farm near me. last week though it did not look very good. I ended up paying for Norfolk Pastures dust free hay at Kennelgate which is what I might stick with this winter.

I'm going to try the Equine Readigrass as bedding and food.
Mine don't entertain the hack rack- too flippin lazy to walk there- so eat their bedding.
I've bought different types of hay, some has got massive sticks in it (and this is sold as Small Animal Food) I don't want to buy baled hay because I remember from my horse-riding days, there could be all sorts in it.
I bought them nice hay with dandelions and it was really sharp as well.
I don't want to put them on straw.

At the moment they are on Megazorb, shredded paper and hay, which I change daily or shake the poohs to the bottom and remove the wet bedding, whatever needs doing.

I reckon 15kg Readigrass works out cheaper than hay. Providing it's dry (which from the website it seems to be)
When it gets to winter, they won't be able to get fresh cut grass.

I ordered the 15kg bag and it arrived today- huuuuuge bag, now in the garage.

Working it out £ for £ (add on £7 for next day delivery £5 for standard) it still compares well to hay.
It's dry , green and short cut, so not as good for burrowing but I can give them shredded paper for that.

It smells lovely, sort of treacley Confused there's no molasses in it.

The piggies are inside on a mixture of hay and Readigras, flaked out after filling their faces .
