We have 2 and a friend suggested getting another for when one pops off to ease the pain. I found myself looking at rescue centres and found a lovely (neuteured) boy who it was suggested would like to be homed with a group of females (i bet he would!). Would 3 be a crowd and how easy is it to introduce a new piggy - mine are happy enough together both girls aged 4/5.

We started with three brothers, then got the mother. Mother didn't much like the sons, but somehow ended up pregnant three times ( amazingly good at escaping, these guinea pigs. We have had up to 7, but now have the mother and two original sons, all happily living in separate cages but next to each other.

In a previous life we have had two brothers who happily lived together.

Suggest it will be fine to add a third piggy to the mix, although do be prepared for the fact they may not get on and need to be housed separately.

The mother that we currently have is about 5 and had two or threelitters before she came to us. She is a bit delicate but not too bad. She has been caged outside with lots of straw through all the winters and is fine and still happy. We don't have a lot of snow here.

Good luck.

We started off with 1 male, who died in 2009. We currently have 4 females. 2 are sisters, the other 2 were together but not sisters.

They all live together in our homemade cage (couldn't find a store bought one large enough, we have 2 rabbits as well who we wanted to house, seperately obviously. So we now have a 2 storey cage in the corner of our living room, guineas on top rabbits underneath)

For the most part they get on great, have arguements every now and again but that's to be expected. The sisters tend to snuggle up, the other 2 prefer to be close by but on their own. Don't know if we were just really lucky but we didn't have a single problem introducing them. We were adding 2 babies to 2 adults though which I think helped.

Good luck!
