Well done. Stick with it. I gave up after 35 years...so glad I did. You should be very proud of yourself!!

Well done! When you get a craving be aware that it will pass within eight minutes whether or not you smoke. I gave up after 50 years (started at 10!) in August 2024. Don't think about it anymore.

Well done! I gave up because I got a chest infection, and was sent to hospital with a suspected complication - I genuinely felt like my life was in immediate danger and it scared me so much I gave up there and then.
Once your over the first 48 hours it does become much easier because you feel like you've got somewhere and you don't want to quit quitting, the trickiest thing was finding something to distract me at the points when I would of smoked (like after dinner) so I did put a bit of weight on eating snacks! But only temporarily, it was well worth quitting!

Well done! What’s your plan to stay motivated? Are you going to reward yourself with some treats with the money saved?

Well done to you too! 😊 I've started creative writing so hoping to use that as a go-to

Very much the money, from tomorrow I will be taking out the equivalent in cash every couple of days to put in a clear jar for real visual impact πŸ˜… my health however, trying to avoid issues both late parents had, is the main motivation

I found eating an orange helped if I had a strong craving! It's great when your taste snd smell improves too.

NotThisAgainSunshine · 31/03/2026 22:22

Well done, keep going. It’s an amazing achievement ☺️

ILoveDaffodills · 31/03/2026 22:25

Congratulations!!

I have never smoked, I'm thankful for that because it means I've never had to stop smoking!

it's a big thing after 37 years! But you've done it!!🌷

Salome61 · 31/03/2026 22:39

Well done. I am 69. Regrettably I waited until I was 57 to stop and my lungs have really been hammered by my second Covid bout. When you have stopped you will be able to smell a smoker a mile off - it reeks.

Hails68 · 31/03/2026 23:38

Well done, I’ve my first appointment with the stop, smoking service next week. Going to be tough after 40 odd years but better late than never 😊

Thecomedyclub · 31/03/2026 23:48

Congratulations πŸ™Œ take lots of very deep breaths, and think about your breathing. I know that sounds odd but don’t forget you used to take a deep drag and the equivalent deep breath really helped me. Keep going! πŸŽ‰

Good for you! I quit 12 years ago.

I feel much better, but I must admit in beer gardens I still lean over to inhale the air around smoking tables πŸ˜‚ I don’t want to do it myself any more though.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 02/04/2026 19:42

Ooh good luck! I gave up a year ago after 44+ years. It can be done 😊
