What to expect from rehab?

My brother is homeless and needs medical withdrawal from alcohol as he is having seizures and drinks two bottles of vodka a day. He said he will go to rehab but I’m not convinced he understands what it entails. We have contacted a Christian charity rehab that has residential placements and they recommend a 12 months stay - residents work to warn their keep in roles organised by them. There seems to be some religious elements eg bible study.
has anyone been to a facility like this who could tell me more? I want him to know what it’s like so he can commit to it.

He's homeless.
He is drinking enough to kill him.
He could have 12 month dry placement but it comes with religious study.
If it's not a cult, I think it's worth a shot.
If it's BETEL, there's one near us
Good luck

I wouldnt worry so much about the religious aspect, the 12 step programme in AA is based on belief , and at the end of the day, hundreds of thousands of people stay dry following a 12 step programme

If he is ready to accept help then get him booked in

Hi - sometimes "detox" and "rehab" can be confused. If he is drinking that much he will need a medically-supervised detox before he can begin to address his addiction as withdrawal from alcohol is dangerous and needs to be done under medical supervision. This takes 3-5 days. Then he may move to a second-stage program. At least this is how it works where I am (not in UK at the moment). I work in this field so feel free to message me directly with other questions.

Exactly.

I worked in treatment so long ago it was called rehab. And it was an NHS job. The only issue for me with religious-based treatment is that addicts will replace the drug of choice with literally anything; exercise, food, sex, and yes Jesus. Addicts have to do real work and sometimes the religious aspect is counterproductive. But sometimes it works.

And what is treatment like? Challenging and boring. It's like a war against addiction. Long periods of practising and drilling to get into the good habits, and short periods of combat.

OP it's up to him. Don't do the work for him, he has to do it.
