To spend £££ on noise cancelling headphones (DP snores)

DP snores so loud like his life depends on in it it's outrageously bad. He was recently diagnosed with Sleep apnea got the Cpap sometimes I can still hear him through it but he's asked the sleep clinic to up it & he's been trialling it downstairs on the sofa as i was still getting woken up and zero sleep! I am a stupidly light sleeper i would wake up with a pin drop !

At the moment only way it works is if we sleep separately as I still getting woken up which I dont want permanently.
We are away in a few weeks and have to share a room so I'm looking for something I can wear

. Tried wax ear plugs but no good. Can anyone recommend any other types or shall I resign myself to pay £££ on noise cancelling headphones ideally I don't want music on when I'm sleeping I just want something powerful to drown out noise.
I knows he trying with the cpap mask it's just I'm worried if he just doesn't wear it properly or rips it off in the middle of the night if it's not working when we go away there's no other room for him to sleep on other than the balcony 🤣
Any ideas be great thanks x

I feel your pain!! I can even hear him through the wall when we sleep in separate rooms. There are some good groups on Facebook. Just search for snoring support group. We've found the snore doctor mouth guard works the best so far, but it's not perfect. I do now get more than 2-3 hours of sleep a night, though. I've heard that wedge pillows really help, but he won't even try it.

Thanks x he's tried all sorts but he's got sleep apnea so wears his mask when it works it's ok but I'm looking for something for me as I'm such a light sleeper.

I wear similar to these

Soundcore Life P2i Earphones, Wireless Headphones, Black (Renewed) amzn.eu/d/eDz6eBU

and play white, brown or green noise via Spotify.

If you have an iPhone there's also this option, you can add it to Spotify/other sound to really block out the noise!

My husband snores like a beast!!!! I’m pretty certain it’s sleep apnea but he’s in total denial and won’t see a doctor.
I went sleep free for about 2 years until my mum bought me a set of Bose headphones which are specifically designed for people who share a bed with snorers (she was convinced she’d never have grandchildren because we were sleeping in separate beds! 😅).
They do work by playing ambient noises like rain, waterfall etc. but they totally changed my life. I got used to the ambient noises quickly and now can’t sleep without it.
Lo and behold I’m also 30 weeks pregnant so my mum also has her much wished for grandchild on the way 😂. They were expensive but she thinks they were the best investment she ever made.

@CuriousMoe .Thanku ! And it's almost certainly worked for her lol ! Can y hear him through walls ? Mine is that bad ! Do they a specific name for the partners of snorers ? Lol I'm just wondering if they are worth the money n as I always can't sleep without complete quiet would I get used to the noise ! Thanks for all your advice xx

I use nose cancelling headphones every night. Takes a while to learn how to sleep in them, but they are life savers. I put in ear plugs, then headphones on top. On really bad nights I play brown noise through the headphones too.

CuriousMoe · 11/05/2023 00:01

@indieray I can usually hear him down the hall in the spare room if I don’t have my headphones in. Once I pick up the pattern of his snoring I can’t ignore it even on a good night so I have to drown it out 😩.
When I got the Bose ones they came with a guarantee that if they didn’t work for you you could return them no questions asked. I used to need total silence but now I can only sleep with rain noises so I got used to it fairly quickly ☺️.

I think my mum got them from John Lewis. If they still have that then you could give it a go and return them if they don’t work.
I have a friend whose husband snores badly as well and I recommended them for her and she now swears by them as well.

My partner also has sleep apnea and uses a Cpap machine and I am a light sleeper so I understand your pain as if it comes off in the night or he takes it off in his sleep I wake up instantly. He bought me these ear plugs as a joke but they work for me and are so comfortable. I use them every night, they block out his noise but I only need to put one in, as the other ear on the pillow is muffled enough not to bother me, and that way you don't have to listen to your own breathing.

If I could afford these I would get them, as they are a relative bargain:

Would add that it definitely counts which noise cancelling headphones you buy. I've got a pair of £400 Sennheisser, and they're designed oh-so-helpfully to allow voices to get through, so they'd be useless in your situation!
