I've a friend, genuine friend not me who is in a severe state with alcohol, she has asked me to research clinics with a view to staging an intervention with her husband who doesn't know how bad it is. How can I help, northern England would be best, money not an issue. I don't know what to do and I'm terrified of losing her.

Hi @Wizzbangfizz I only know of the priory and turning point in the North but there's likely some more. Have a Google.

I've used quit lit and podcasts to help kick alcohol. Unless you explore what underlies your addiction I think you're destined to fail as will power only works for so long.

Also psychotherapy helped. If she has money she could get therapy fairly quickly.

I hope you manage to sort something, you're obviously a good friend

The Manor Clinic in Southampton. I know someone who went there and the treatment included counselling when you go home.I am unclear as to whether it is your friend or her husband? It would be no use sending someone there unless they really want to go and be helped. Alcoholics generally have to reach rock bottom before any help is of use and rock bottom is very very low down. If your friend thinks her husband doesn’t know how bad her drinking is, then she is deluding herself. He just doesn’t want to face up to the problew.

Thank you for the replies, I spoke to a few places yesterday and have put all the information together and sent it to her and she has promised to look at it. Hoping for the best. I think she has some mental health issues which need addressing which can't be until she has dried out which she isn't going to be able to do at home.
