Ridiculous Addiction

I have a ridiculous addiction - having psychic readings. I've had email readings, text readings and phone readings.

I gave up for a few months a couple of years ago and I am determined to stop altogether. My phone bill is ridiculous and I am broke this month because of it.

I've gone 6 days without a reading. I feel better but flat. The readings gave me hope and things to look forward to. I realise I have been mostly conned but a couple of psychics were quite good.

I'm not sure I could just have one reading now and again for a treat without getting addicted.

Thank you. Fingers crossed I can continue. I'm now able to think about treating myself to something instead of having readings. Better than wasting £20 a reading.

I need to remind myself that even the better psychics don't get everything right.

I think you tube tarot might be a good swap. I regularly listen to tarot for free as bit of positivity & harmless fun. It passed a bit of time whilst I'm making tea or tidying.

My favourite is Tyler's Tarot, Rambling Mike & Moonlight Guidance on You Tube. All readings are free, with options to subscribe. I don't subscribe and just listen and like.

I dunno, I think for someone who's had trouble with this stuff, it might be better to steer clear altogether?

Agreed

It’s the equivalent of a gateway drug

ghostsandfairy · 01/02/2022 16:47

I don't think tarot videos would be a trigger for more readings for me. Just someone flipping over cards and saying their meaning wouldn't make me think there was anything in them but thanks for your comments.

To be fair OP

I don’t think you’re the most objective person re tarot readings and their potential impact on you

Toanewstart22 · 01/02/2022 16:55

And you say I don’t ^think^

Is it worth the risk?

ghostsandfairy · 01/02/2022 17:43

True but I have my own tarot cards and have been on a site that does free readings. You click on a card and it's meaning comes up.

I would be more drawn in if I thought someone had psychic ability as anyone can read the cards.

All the best op

ghostsandfairy · 03/02/2022 18:14

Thank you. I treated myself to a top that was on sale. It cost less than a reading and it was nice to get something tangible for my money.

I feel less tempted to have readings now.

With all due respect, if any people truly had extra ordinary abilities they would be either recruited by military or being studied by them,

@Hawkins001 - interesting point. I think the US military did employ psychics at some point.

I think there are some good psychics but they don't get everything right and there are very few of them. Most "psychics" on telephone lines are just trying to make easy money or can read tarot cards which anyone can learn.

I have been to a medium who couldn't have known the things he told me.

Unfortunately I have been conned by a lot of readers who aren't psychic and I probably couldn't have a reading every now and then as a one off treat as it would lead to me having loads more.

There's been some projects some publicity announced others , secret ops, ect

I have managed to not have a reading for almost 3 weeks. It is easier not to have them now. If I can get to Wednesday my phone bill will be less than a third of what it was last month.

Christopher Brookmyre wrote a book called Attack of the unsinkable rubber ducks. It's a crime novel but explores the fakery and manipulation in that world, might be a good one for you to read?

WheresYourSnickers · 11/02/2022 06:54

You're doing great OP, keep it up! 🌟
Almost 3 weeks is great - maybe put the extra money away for a few months & then treat yourself to something really special in the summer!

DeathWinsAGolfish · 11/02/2022 07:01

Absolutely amazing, well done! StarStarStarStarStar

ghostsandfairy · 11/02/2022 07:13

Thanks for all your supportive comments! If I can get to the end of the month without dipping into my savings it will be an achievement.

I had readings partly because I felt out of control in certain parts of my life but now I feel more in control of my money.

How's it been going ghost?

ghostsandfairy · 13/02/2022 17:08

@ClumpingBambooIsALie - Hi. It's harder to resist readings at the weekends when I have less to do but I haven't given in.

I still look at the "psychic" phone reading sites now and again to see who is on but remind myself of the bullshit they have told me.

Thanks for asking Daffodil
