I know this t-shirt question has been asked many times before but I'm desperate ...

Sorry about this.

I know it's a boring question that's been asked before, but I haven't had any success with previous recommendations.

Desperately looking for 100% cotton (well, bit of stretch allowed) neat-necked, well-made, long, fitted t-shirts in good quality material ...for the more, shall I say, mature woman. My dressing style is fairly boring classic and my shape is a bit lumpy plump.

I've recently ordered some from Kettlewell colours and they are OK-ish but seem a bit shiny and thin bearing in mind they are meant to have high cotton content. They also show every lump and bump (well, they do on me anyway).

Petit Bateau used to do some lovely adult t-shirts but all their necks have gone big and baggy this year which is no good for me ...

Need a neat scoop neck or what I believe is called a horse-shoe neck ...

The other complication is that I'd prefer to buy on-line, and am based in mainland Europe, so preferably want to find a source that will deliver abroad.

Help please!!!

Thanks for your responses.

Have viewed the Land's End ones thank you MrsBadger and will ponder ...not sure about their colours ....but I know shape and quality are good.

Thanks for Uniqlo suggestion - I'm slightly wary with it being a Japanese company - as am big of nork ...

Good old M&S qk - who'd have thought it! I should have looked there first but discounted them somehow - and they deliver abroad now too - thank you, those look just the thing ...

Spirit of the Andes does 100% pima cotton tee shirts - but most of their fitted styles are fairly short in the body. The tee shirt with the notched neck is longer and has some shaping in the body (Stylistas warning - I use this tee shirt for holiday walking and am ancient and not svelte).

racingheart · 08/07/2010 16:19

Except I'd say not M&S. Wash them a few times and they shrink length wise and become baggy width wise. i've stopped buying Ts from them. Best places are Uniqlo (try men's dept if their L size doesn't cover the norks), Next and White Stuff for long tees that hold their shape. I also have some New Look ones which are lovely and long. The stitching wears out before they ever lose their shape.

Worst place IMO is M&S. Wash them a few times and they shrink length wise and become baggy width wise. I've stopped buying Ts from them.

Thanks for the link to the 'Andes' site Lilymaid which is a new one on me ... will have a browse ...

And thanks for that (rather disappointing) feedback on the M&S ts racingheart. The reviews raised my hopes because people were generally complaining that they were too long (which wd suit me just fine!!).

I am a very difficult shape to buy for [sigh] large out front hence need for length, but thin and bony around shoulders and neck which means I look awful both in boat necks/high necks AND very low/open necks ...

I'll have a peruse of Next too but I have the feeling I may have left it too late ...

the M&S ones are v cheap so I wouldn't worry too much. I haven't found a problem with my M&S ones and as a SAHM, they are all I wear at the moment. I do tumble dry them, so perhaps that helps.

Stillcounting · 09/07/2010 12:05

Thanks qk - I think I may still give one a go and see how they wash ...

Best, I think is Gap. Sadly, they don't do on line in Europe.

Stillcounting · 09/07/2010 14:00

Noted for my next trip to UK - thanks listentome

This is the holy grail for me too.

IMHO Gap ones and M&S ones both wash really badly. Go all misshapen and baggy.

The only thing I have found is to go really expensive. Think Nicole Farhi- very thick cotton, wash brilliantly. I would love to find a middle way. So bumping this thread!
