where can i buy (what i would call old fashioned)knickers for DD, which do not gape at the legs and consequently 'ride-up' her bottom. I have some italian pants which are meant to cover disposable nappies (gotta love their style) but italy is a long way to go for more knicker! please help

I know what you mean, I bought some cheap knickers for potty training my minded children from Primark. They are absolutely inappropriate, little girls sit with their legs apart and all you could see was their 'bits'

I took them back and they refused a refund, I told them that they were sexualising little girls have crotches less than an inch wide, bearing in mind these were for 2 year olds.

They could the supervisor who asked what the problem was, I explained and she said no refunds son personal items. I told her in a very loud vice in a queue of about 10 people that exposing a child's genitals and being able to see all of their labia was not appropriate and that I would write to the press about it.

She rapidly gave me a refund!

The only lovely knickers I have found, and also used for my own DD are Petit Bateau, they come at a price, but are beautiful and cover all up to the waist!

petit bateau

You can get them at John lewis, Selfridges, harrods etc, they last for ever and stay soft.

I think marks and spencers are good, nice quality and not expensive.

petit bateau are the best, last many washes and many kids, and no allergy to elastic band since they don't have them. You can get them cheap on the french markets'stall too, if you know somebody there they can post them for you.

There are many threads on this why the retailers dont catch on i dont know

I have found GAP knickers and boxer short style pants in girls colours from H and M, as well as surprsingly LIDL to be more apropriate.

I spent £10 on M and S short shape pants with Dora on only for them to shrink at varying rates so they are now all different sizes (and all too tight) so i would steer clear of them.

Thread in the past have recommended Boden but its to £££ for me, tholugh perhaps better at sale time

I bought some at tesco for DD1 3 years ago and they fine shape wise (DD1 is allergic to the elastics though). That is why we are on petit bateau.
