I think we'll have to put DTs (2) into beds as one lassie is climbing out of her cot so are looking round at bedroom furniture. I'd like ivory or white wood and am considering these options:

www.aspace.co.uk/products/bedroom_ranges/belvoir
www.johnlewis.com/24827/Range.aspx
www.johnlewis.com/26733/Range.aspx

Am looking at single beds, bedside cabinet(s) and chest of drawers so it's adding up ££-wise. With the Aspace range, I'm wondering whether it might work to substitute this bed www.aspace.co.uk/product_catalogue/weatherboard-childrens-bed-3024/index?instance_id=97312 - it would save several hundred pounds. Whatever we buy, I'd like it to see them into their teens which is what, I guess, makes me less keen on the children's range from J Lewis as the chest of drawers is quite low - and maybe won't hold quite so much.

Any thoughts please? Thanks!

I like the Darcy range best as I like beds with no end on them IYSWIM!!

If you want it to be their bed for a long time, I think the Aspace one if too childish, tbh.

Have a look here too. They will paint/wax to give you whatever finish you like, and have some lovely pairs of pretty beds-and proper solid wood, unlike the John L ones. I haven't bought from them, but a friend has, and her 2 DDs have got a pair of white painted beds that look utterly charming.

Sorry!

Meant to link to this

Thanks Dexter and Plum. Dexter - that's DH's opinion too. Plum - I'm going to have a look at that site now, thanks.

Just to add to the confusion we always buy FLEXA which is great, really solid and built to last (it comes in white too) and gives you loads of combinations-so you buy the beds and then you can connect them to midi height beds, l-shaped bunks, high beds etc all interchangeable. We always buy secondhand as they are very pricey new and they are great as built to last. louise

Thanks Louise - shall have a look at that. Liz - not suitable I'm afraid as it's a double bed and dark wood but thx anyway.

I'd for for Flexa too. You can get seperate beds that can then be made into bunk beds/mid sleepers later, which are great for 5-10 year olds. It's really good quality and can be added to.

The White Company beds are lovely too

Millie1 · 07/07/2010 19:11

Thanks Plum ... they do look lovely. Do you have them - if so, what's the quality like?

White Company furniture is lovely quality.

For lasting beds we always go for M&S so they can have mates staying over, they have two mattresses and two frames (one goes under the other) can't find on website but they always have them in and are about 399 including mattresses.

Daughter has white bed from MS and furniture from White Company

I'd NOT recommend anything from Aspace. The finish was really cheap and poor. The service was also just as bad when we tried to get parts that were not delivered. Our friends also had the same problem.

Millie1 · 07/10/2010 22:23

Thanks milkandsugar .... I saw this and thought 'hmm, interesting' but didn't realise it was my old one til I opened it! Haven't bought anything yet (sticking to cots for as long as possible as DD seems to have forgotten how to climb out Grin) but will keep your comments in mind re Aspace. Smile
