Boden preview site - my shopping bag is over £400

So went on to have a look as I do get the girls stuff from boden - lasts ages and they love the colours.

So, all started rather well but I have 2 girls and so started to double up on things like jeans and tops (different colours etc) and then my shopping bag was approaching the £200s.

Then clicked on womens and found this coat that I really love and at preview is £144 (it's not a great fashion coat but it is a nice shape and I can imagine wearing it lots) and then I added a dress....

Well my total is now £349.61 for 11 items.....it just sounds like alot....

Shall I just go for it?

i ordered some kind of cardigan thing - ?> sleeveless and the ankle boots but am NOT convinced about them

Jewelsandgems · 06/07/2010 20:20

Millie I like the look of that coat on the model, but just on it's own it does not look as nice.

I have just raised the subject of boden preview with DH to be met with one raised eyebrow

JewelsandGems - I love the look of the magenta coat. Have been toying with the idea of buying that for myself. I broke free of the "classic colour winter coat" (aka boring, boring, boring grey/navy/black) 4 years ago when I bought a beautiful magenta coat from Paul Smith. It is almost identical to the Boden one but sans collar.

I love the fact that as soon as I put it on I feel dressed up - no matter what may lurk beneath . I was concerned that I wouldn't get much wear out of it initially. However, it quickly became my "every day" coat (aside from dog walking).

Our winters are long and dull enough already. Brighten up your day with a gawgus coat

Domesticsluttery - I bought leggings from Boden this spring. They are lovely and soft and a nice thickness. No show-through on knees etc. My one complaint would be that they only just reach my ankle.....and I am somewhat short in the leg. However, if you are intending to wear them with boots, it won't be too much of a problem.

tulpe have changed my shopping bag to the magenta one.

And this dress in Grape but I am oddly attracted to the bright pink?!

Thats the only dress I like out of the whole collection. I would go for pink but thats because purple drains me. It looks too short for me though!!

Jewelsandgems · 07/07/2010 17:48

kittya I agree - it was the only dress I liked too. I am pale and blonde so not sure the pink would suit me in the winter....

The neck is too high for me. I guess purple may look better on you then. Then again, pink might perk you up abit!! It is a nice dress, let me know what its like. When is this stuff arriving?

Jewelsandgems · 08/07/2010 14:10

I have placed the order! Ordered the dress in both colours, and the coat in the blue and magenta and lots of stuff for girls too.

Amount ended up over £500!! SHIT!

go for it! you have the cash

Jewelsandgems · 08/07/2010 15:43

Well vintage not exactly for all that but since have ordered some things in two colours, at least £200 worth of stuff will be returned, and I would have bought the girls nursery stuff anyway.

Loving this scarf

purplepeony · 08/07/2010 22:19

Mine's over £400 too and I am still looking- I ordered on the pretext that at least 50% will go back- ie 2 jackets and I need one, 2 pairs jeans for sizing, dress "out of curiosity".

I usually end up dithering and getting 10% off. so trying to buy in preview this year- well worth it- especially for cashmere, though they have increased prices this year.

florenceuk · 08/07/2010 22:34

I am dithering between this: chelsea dress and this holland park for work - the first in particular looks really comfortable.

Or I could get this: j crew dress which is about twice the price.....

any views?

purplepeony · 08/07/2010 23:11

The Holland Park is the same cut it appears as the Colour block shift from last summer, except this one has sleeves. I have just sold mine on Ebay unworn. I liked it a lot but bought a size 8 which has become a tiny bit tight.
The under bust seam and band is/was tight and i think you might find this cut restricting for work- depends on your sizing.
Chelsea dress looks nice but which colour? some of the prints look a bit loud.

purplepeony · 08/07/2010 23:13

j crew is lovely but you might get an LK Bennett for that price.

Jewelsandgems · 09/07/2010 08:17

love that j crew dress (but collar may be fiddly under jackets?)

Thanks - I would only get the Chelsea dress in black, which is a bit funereal (would prefer a nice dark purple or navy) but I do like the draping. PP, your comments on the Holland park have made me doubt it a little at least for work although it does look very flattering for a slightly potbellied person like me - those wool jersey ones would just make me look pregnant because they are so unstructured.

I find with LK Bennett I'm somewhere between an 8 and a 10, and a bit too flatchested so I've stopped looking there. I think I'm just obsessed with cowl necks at the moment...
