I have slimmed and slimmed to fit into my old faithful linen trousers, I had them from Topshop about 6 years ago and have worn them every year.
Now Im back to a size 10 but just cant fit into these bloody things. Maybe its because theyve been washed a million times or just that theyre a small size 10.

I need a black pair and a white pair, but dont want to spend a fortune, as am pretty skint.

have seen these

and there are these

What do you think of these, I want them to look smart for evening wear on holiday but dont want to spend more than £20 per pair

Have you looked in Next, they're £20

ivykaty44 · 05/07/2010 14:17

i would avios any linen trousers that are thin white - they make it look like you have two hamsters in the back and fighting for a change not a good look from behind so take someone with you and walk in them before you buy

mosschops30 · 05/07/2010 14:24

yes comppo the next ones I have linked to, but they are a bit thin (have some in a larger size which now dont fit) and not that smart either, ok for everyday wear though.

I dont want really smart dressy linene trousers but some 'nice' ones IYKWIM

some ok looking ones in dorothy perkins too.

Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations

If you're only a 10, you don't need to hide in baggy linen trousers!
Have a try on of some cotton capris (have seen them in H&M for 9.99 but they're everywhere), wear a long top over if you're conscious of your arse.
And anything with a drawstring waist makes you look fatter and older than you are.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/07/2010 14:29

Loads here.

mosschops30 · 05/07/2010 14:42

what are capri pants???

The linen trousers I have are not drawstring waisted, theyre button, zip and belted so quite fitted, which is why I still cant fit into them!

Cropped straight-legged trousers, sometimes with a little cut-out at the side hem.

Hi, I have just bought some from River Island this morning abit more that you want to pay at £25, but these are my second pair and they wash and wear forever!!

mosschops30 · 05/07/2010 14:54

don't get H&M trousers - the seems are rough and they have cut them close and the cotton chaff - not nice and certianly not comfy

miche8 · 05/07/2010 17:48

I've just bought a couple of the river island ones too, fit really nicely, not too baggy in the leg, havent washed them yet though.

The newlook ones are nice quite fitted round the bum with a wide leg, but very thin material, they do wash well, but get a bit loose round the waist after a couple of hours, i was able to down size.

The ones from next are a thicker material, but the leg shape is odd, dont feel good in them, so keep them for around the house, have washed up very well.

I have the M&S ones you linked to and they are fab. They replaced my old Next ones that I loved but were falling apart and I couldn't find any more that I liked until these, very flattering on, I have the shorts version too. And at £15 you can't really go wrong was my opinion. I have them in light grey and navy and I find that more forgiving than the white. But that is because I can't keep myself clean for more than 5 mins.

racingheart · 05/07/2010 18:55

The Next ones don't last that well, though I did wear them all the time when I had them. Used to buy three pairs every summer but by September they were worn through. The linen is very soft.

Last year I bought from New Look - about £16 a pair, fitted wide waistband which is more flattering than drawstring, and they're still good as new.

i never understood linen trousers. they instantly lose their shape and get baggy, and often wear out in one place or another.
