Fanjo waxing (ouchhh) and which home kits actually work?!

Frigging hell,

just waxed,

I can deal with the pain but not the embarresment of a salon.

DH did it, all the main hairs came out but now Im covered in stubble, I look like a builders chin down there

Which kits actually get rid of ALL the hairs,

he even went over a 2nd time but they didn't come out and I was about to pass out

your wonderful DH! Mine might have seen me give birth but he'd never want to come near me with wax..

If you've got stubble some of the hairs must have been too short to wax.

Was it a warm wax kit? They're the best home ones - the cold ones are torture.

Disenchanted3 · 03/07/2010 21:30

Yes it was cold, it was nads.

it frigging hurt more puting the stuff one.

They are quite long stubbly hairs though!

There is a technique to waxing. It's impossible for wax 'not to work' if it's done correctly.

I suspect your other half has pulled it off at the wrong angle, had the wax at the wrong temp or something and just snapped the hairs rather than pulling them out at the root.

OK - long term fanjo waxer here. Hope these tips help.

You must use hard wax, the type that sets like toffee and not the stuff that you apply strips to or the ready to use strips. Veet or Immac do a hard wax, it comes in a purple tub.

You also need to trim your pubes before so they are no longer than about half a centimetre. Waxing hairs that are longer than that hurts like hell.

Heat the wax and test it on the back of your hand. Once you are happy with the temperature then you can begin downstairs. But first apply a very light coat of oil down there. Baby oil will do.

Apply the wax to two sides of your fanjo, about the size of two 50p pieces. You need to wait for it to set hard so you may as well do two, it saves time. Once it has set hard pull off the lump of wax against the direction of hair growth. And repeat until you have removed all the hair you want to. The wax is sticky so you might want to have a wash at stages during the process.

If your DH is helping you he - and you - need to pull the skin tight before pulling off the set wax. Otherwise you risk bruising your bits.

Good luck!

i disagree
i've been told by beauty therapists that if you have very fine hair that it can be too fine for effective waxing

you'll know if that is true though....

None of them work effectively.... (have beauty training myself but would never DIY bikini wax) go to a salon and get it done properly. Nothing to be embarrassed about, they see everything all the time ('tis water off a duck's back).

Also you risk chance of bruising or damaging delicate skin if hair not pulled correctly, and giving yourself ingrowing hairs!

Agree with KillerCleavage with Hot/hard wax for extreme muff removal - less painful, grips pubic hair better and less messy (but more time consuming) other stuff better for legs etc.

Disenchanted3 · 04/07/2010 10:25

I think I'm going to leave it to regrow and then go to a salon next time, am seriously sore!

Hard wax is great, one of the ladies that does my legs uses it on my normal bikini wax.

But I use the Veet hot wax at home and manage my own brazillian. Trim first and just do little chunks at a time. I tend to do cassette size strips and it only takes 15 mins to tidy the front and take off the underneath.

My friend uses this stuff to wax her fanjo, says it's excellent:
