It looks great. But am I old before my time?

I think she has a very trendy hairdo and she wears lovely structured clothes and plenty of make-up so looks great

I'm still wearing yet another version of the 'Rachel' and mine has been about 6 different versions of it for 15 years! (it never looks any different)

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 03/07/2010 11:41

Yeeessss, but she is 60+...

I am growing out a crop and just needed something to tidy it up while the layers grow down. So my hairdresser did this. It is cool an I've had loads of compliments (and fringe hides the wrinkles). But I just keep coming back to her age...

I'm 36. I've had a Mary Portas hairdo for a year.

I love it, and get loads of compliments.

I think it's pretty timeless.

Anyway, I think she's late forties, not 60 plus.

I love Mary...

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 03/07/2010 11:46

OMG, have just googled and you are right (sorry Mary)

But that makes me feel a lot better, obv her hair is much less mature than I thought!!

I don't have her hair do BUT I'd love her wardrobe. The heeled boots, the architectural jackets, the statement jewels, the designer scarves. Although perhaps not all at once .

FGM · 03/07/2010 14:07

and I'm 36

Dollytwat · 03/07/2010 14:09

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and I love it, and have had loads of compliments. I'm only 41 as well

I think it could be aging with the wrong clothes

FellatioNelson · 03/07/2010 14:34

I think her hair is fab. You have to dress a certain way to carry it off though. I'd look like Jeanette Kranky if I tried to have it.

cheesesarnie · 03/07/2010 14:35

i like her hair

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 03/07/2010 18:21

Still not 100% sure....

You must post photos Gherkin - then we can give you a proper assessment ...

sharbiebowtiesarecool · 03/07/2010 18:27

same colour as well?

tethersend · 03/07/2010 19:08

Arf@ Jeanette Kranky

coolma · 03/07/2010 19:20

I have the same and I'm 46! It's very trendy indeed.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 03/07/2010 19:21

Yes, Jeannette Kranky. See, that's my fear.
Photos? OMG NO sorry, just bought a new camera and not yet got round to working out how to upload pic

I've just cut mine short from a Portas bob, everyone over the age of 35 is getting it

snice · 03/07/2010 19:25

I think its fine as long as it doesn't stray into Purdey territory

MaudofallHopefulness · 03/07/2010 19:34

Oh god Coco - is that true? I've booked a haircut for tuesday and was going for a bob. Just turned 36. Am I a cliche?

cocolepew · 03/07/2010 19:48

Yep. Just don't do the claw fingers Mary does and you might get away with it.

NorbertDentressangle · 03/07/2010 19:53

Show us a pic Gherkin...please.

(BTW are you coming to Littlefish's singing thing later this month? Just realised that you weren't at the last meet-up so might not be aware of it. It involves going for a meal and a drink afterwards )

squeaver · 03/07/2010 19:55

I LOVE her hair. If you can keep it shiny and properly blow-dried it will look lovely.

Lol that you thought she was 60+

southeastastra · 03/07/2010 19:58

the problem is finding a hairdresser that can cut the style properly. have had so many wonky bobs i gave up in the end. i like her too - very blunt

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/07/2010 20:00

I've got a bob too. Had one for years at different lengths and slight variations on fringe. The trick with it is to not let it get too bulbous. My hair is very thick and my hairdresser cuts into the ends. Straighteners and serum really help it look sharp and not frumpy
