Has anyone tried balayage??

I'm going to try a new hairdressers and they offer balayage as well as highlights - I'm sure it's a kind of highlighting technique that doesn't use foils but I'd love to know if anyone's tried it?

Yes I had this done for years too, and in the UK people often asked we where I got my highlights done.
