harem pants...am I mad?

I have a yen for some proper harem pants in nice soft jersey.

Have I gone bonkers? (I'm a non-flabby tall size 16)

If not, where might I find some nice ones? Topshop website has given me some food for thought already...

I love mine and have lots of pairs. What kind were you thinking of?

I tend to go for the more tailored styles without the massive crotch bit.

Having said that I have a pair from New Look a few years ago which are far too MC Hammer esque to wear out but are the most comfy house trousers ever.

My only issue is finding the right tops to go with them.

They are great and can look very cool but I do think you need to be thin. Sorry.

darkandstormy · 01/07/2010 14:09

OP GO for it I think they look great,I had a pair last year I am a tall size 10, I got loads of compliments.I think you will look great with a tight t shirt vest top and gorgeous [I had gold flats with mine]In my opinion it hsa nothing to do with age shape etc, but how you dress them up.They are so cool to wear in the heat.Mine were from Primarkbut they got so many compliments. One small tip though, don't get a photo taken while the window is billowing them, as this let the "look" down.

dexter those look perfect, I am going to try them on

am pear-shaped but trim so hoping they might be OK

they will be firmly rejected if I sense they make me look like a)some kind of grazia sheep or b)just trying to disguise a big arse

aquavit - I am the same shape as you and I went back to try a pair myself today. They did look really nice but I didn't get them as I don't want to have matching trousers with my dd!

SixtyFootDoll · 01/07/2010 16:23

I have a khaki pair that I wear with my gold sandals, they look really nice

aquavit · 01/07/2010 16:37

thanks dexter that is most encouraging

fortunately my dd is one

(mind you looking like we were wearing matching nappies wouldn't be all that chic)

Clearly I am insane as not only do I love harem pants I am actively hunting out the biggest baggiest pair of aladdin pants in the world.
All the rage in Europe- seems it's just the UK needs to catch on!
