Post-pregnancy wardobe revamp - help me plan!

DC2 due any day now. Last time I was in the post-pregnancy phase I was pretty big and didn't buy myself anything I liked for ages because I didn't think it was worth it.

I never really lost the baby weight before this pregnancy, but I'm determined not to do the same thing to myself again. I want a few nice things even if I don't wear them for that long (hopeful emoticon).

I'm intending to bf again, and wouldn't mind a bf dress to be among the suggestions. I'm not bothered about bf tops as I usually just hike up my t'shirt. I'll also need a pair of jeans.

I was a size 14 when I got pg. I've put on a fair bit of weight again. I've put a pre-pregnancy and a current pregnant photo on my profile. I'm 5'6"

So, I'm looking for four or five nice things, including jeans that can be bought online and will make me feel nice. Not too pricey please as obviously the pounds will drop from me so quickly I won't wear them for long.

That is one cute baby ANd fabulous norks you've got there.
I was a 14 when I got pg. Post pregnancy I was an 18, and stayed that size for a good 18 months as I just couldn't seem to shift the weight while I was bfing. But I did treat myself to nice clothes as it will do you no good to feel like shite in what you're wearing.
It is hot atm so a nice dress is a must I think. And a lot of things right now are v flatterign for a postnatal tum.And some tunics and leggings would be good. I never bothered with bfing tops, I preferred to wear a vest under and lift my top up so no flesh was on show.
M and S cheapy £12 straight leg jeans were very flatterign when I was bigger. But the most important thing I bought, I think were accessories. A fab necklace or earrings will lift quite an ordinary t shirt and skirt combo and make it look nicer.

I just bought this boob dress for much the same purpose as you. It looks really lovely on and the quality of the fabric and cut is fab. There's also a sale on their website with some nice bits here. I like the fact that their stuff doesn't have the dress with obvious flaps things that a lot of nursing dresses have. I've also found a lovely couple of tops in H&M (not maternity). Very drapy and floaty in a range of colours and cuts - a silky feel cotton, prices starting from £7.99. Sorry, can't find a link.

Also - I've has some jeans recommended to me for the same post-pregnancy purpose. Nice enough to make you want to keep wearing them, but not so expensive that you resent buying them when you lose all of that baby weight... . Middle-rise apparently good for holding in the post-pregnancy tum and they are a very good cut here.

Also, Primark are meant to do a good pair of straight legs for £8 - again, can't link.

Sandybits (great name! Been to the beach lately )Thanks for the nice comments [flushes with pride]

I was particularly wondering about those jeans. Thanks. I might order a couple of sizes and send back once I've had the baby. And good tip about the accessories. I'm not very up with what is fashionable at the moment. It's big, isn't it?

Does it really matter what size leggings are? I'm wearing a 14 maternity ones but someone lent me a size 20 and they seem to be fine too.

redllama - I couldn't get that first link, but those on the website are definitely nicer than the ones I've seen of theirs before, so thanks for making me look there again. I thikn H&M have jst started online, haven't they so that's another one I'll check out but hadn't thought of. Thanks.

Sorry about that - link is to an e-bay seller with lots of cheap boob stuff. swishhstuff.

SandyBits · 28/06/2010 21:36

Yep, a big string of colourful beads will do you well, and can be a good plaything for a bfing baby
You probably don't want to spend too much money really. One thing I foudn out this time, especially while I had so much time on maternity leave, was that charity shops are my friend. If you pop in often enough with a nice smile and say hello (very easy when you have a newborn for the old ladies to coo over ) then they can be fab places to find things, and if you get a particuarly fab one they will hang onto things you think you will like. Has saved me a fortune. M and S might be worth a wander. Nice jewellery, cheap basics, and a sale on atm.
Most important of all though, esp with norks as fine as yours, is a good bra to give you a great shape. For me it was the Anita underwired nursing bra. Transformed me from monoboobed frump to large norked hottie in the time it took to slip on

LaTrucha · 28/06/2010 21:43

Ah, Thanks redllama. Will have a look.

Sandybits - I think I will promise myself one of those bras. Spent 19 months last time in dreary Emma Jane as that's all the local shop stocks. Any idea how the sizing on the Anita might compare to the Emma Jane or Royce (which was better, as you can see in the photo ). A long shot I know but may as well ask!

Step away from the granny bras
I have no idea. I found them to be spot on true to size. But you have to order online which is a pain. Whatever you do don't get measured in M and S. Give yourself a week or 2 in your PJs then measure those bad boys and order one. Fwiw, I managed to get one on ebay for much cheaper than any online shops.

redllamayellowllama · 28/06/2010 21:49

Ooh, and a second on the Anita nursing bras for the larger nork. Could have done with going one size smaller on mine as the micro-fibre was quite stretchy. They really do give excellent support. Some nice ones on sale at Figleaves.

LaTrucha · 28/06/2010 22:04

Thanks. It gives me some idea, anyway. Figleaves are pretty good with returns, aren't they so should be fine.

I've been feeling really down about my post-pregnancy body, then whilst watching Kirsty and Phil last week, realised that Kirsty is prob around the same size as me and looks amazingly stylish and sexy. So, I have decided not to give a damn about my excess weight and learn to love the new me...this thread has given me inspiration and ideas for achieving this. Lets hope I can maintain this positivity when I next notice my saggy tum and huge boobs...

LaTrucha · 29/06/2010 13:17

That's nice to hear. If you find anything fab, let me know!
