I've been looking for some el cheapo flat sandals for summer holiday and have found these. Does anybody have any opinions? Tan or silver?

Thanks.

FolornHope · 26/06/2010 17:01

here

janeite · 26/06/2010 17:03

I quite like the grannoid look! The Next ones are a bit too bling for me.

I think they look quite old ladyish too but less so in the silver than the tan

IPredictADiet · 26/06/2010 18:06

these are uber comfy - very cushiony shoes.

not v.keen on the clarks, but if you must, definitely the silver.

janeite · 26/06/2010 18:09

Thanks. Don't like gladiators, though.

Maybe I am just old?

Do you want shoes for a bit of casual/elegant holiday swanning about and/or going to dinner, or do you need more substantial sandals with a bit of support?

Asking because several of the strappy ones suggested have very thin soles and probably wouldn't be good for on-your-feet sightseeing, etc.

Do you lean toward dressy or sporty/casual?

janeite · 26/06/2010 18:16

I'll get flip flops for the beach but just want something for schlepping about in the evenings, or for if we go into the main town or anything. So yes, I don't want hideously thin-soled but don't want anything Millets-esque.

Sorry Janeite but I think the clarks look very "granny"!

Have a look at newlook.com - you will have to wade through the gladiators but in amongst them there are some lovely "dressy flip-flops". I bought a pair of the Diamante Sandals (for when I MUST wear dressy shoes) and they are so light and comfortable you hardly know they're there.

janeite · 26/06/2010 19:03

Thank you.

I'll have a look but always have a semi-panic-attack in New Look.

I tried those on this afternoon, and they weren't enormously comfy. I think it was because they were so flat and they have thin soles. I do like them though.

janeite · 26/06/2010 19:14

Hey - at least I'm not the only one attracted to 'granny sandals' then!

I find these are great for walking/being on my feet in hot weather. Some are a bit too 'hippyish', but others are ok.

Do you like any of them?

BarefootShirl · 26/06/2010 19:16

They seem comfy to me but TBH that may be partly because I run around without shoes so much.

janeite · 26/06/2010 19:26

Not fond of those, sorry. Don't need 'walky-type' ones, if that makes sense!

jan Kurt Geiger haev 1000's of shoes reduced. quite a few half decent sandals too

janeite · 26/06/2010 19:42

Ooh - will have a look in town tomorrow. KG always seems to be full of massively high heels, so I must be looking at the wrong shelves!

OP posts:
janeite · 26/06/2010 19:43

Btw - was it you, Cyb, who rec'd the black and white sriped M&S dress? I bought it a few weeks ago and am v pleased with it!

OP posts:
cyb · 26/06/2010 20:35

yar, more navy and white I would say...with the drapey bit across the front? I wore mine today ! Love it

cyb · 26/06/2010 20:35

and have a look online for KG shoes

janeite · 26/06/2010 20:48

I'm wearing mine today too and I'm pretty sure it's the same dress - but mine is deffo black and white, not navy. It's drapey on the bust and sort of layered tulip effect on the skirt bit - very, very easy to wear.

I have these which are mocked on S&B threads as grannyish every time I link them

I don't care. They are the best, comfiest sandals I have ever owned. Can't recommend them highly enough.

lambanana · 26/06/2010 21:26

I have these in a grey/stone colour. They are quite thin soled but very comfy. No rubbing. I was concerned they were too young for me as I am 41 but they seem to go with everything and I have had a few compliments.

janeite · 26/06/2010 21:31

Thanks both. I like the Clarks ones better than either of those though! Tethers- they look scarily cutting-edge to me, rather than Grannyish.

Don't really want to pay any more than about 20 quid, hence the appeal of the Clarks ones.

OP posts:
tethersend · 26/06/2010 21:43

It's a fine line between cutting edge and grannyish... and I am currently treading it in snakeskin sandals
