I want a bikini for the garden. I've seen ladies in Spain look lovely even at 60. They look their age, not trying too hard, just getting the sun. I want the same. If I happen to look good too then all the better. No Leopard print or gold for me please. Nice bootoms that cover my tum & bum. Any recommendations

How about figleaves. They do proper bra sizes and bum coverage. Lots of tankinis too. They are pricey though but I think worth it. I've got one of theirs 3 years old still going strong!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 24/06/2010 17:25

Figleaves have lots of bikini bottoms like these this year, which you can roll up if you want to. then you can buy a matching top in your bra size and get proper bob support as well.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but personally I would not wear a bikini if there was any fault in my mid section, it will be all anyone looks at. If you need coverage anyway you would be much better off with a one piece, or a tankini so you could roll up and down to let the sun get to you when no one is looking. (I speak from experience)

Nuttybear · 24/06/2010 19:11

veryconfusedandupset I totally agree. I was planning on wearing it in my garden not in public. Just encase a neighbour happens to look out of the window. I don't want to be seen in my bra & pants. I hate my Mum's tan at the mo. Just around the v-neck and shorts line! BUT when I get to 60 I will wear a bikini, I'll be that invisiable woman anyway! I'm also going to the gym a bit more maybe I won't look that bad!

Whats & pink I like this one. Not too bold I think. I am brown so I might blend in with this. this

If you fancy brown, this might be worth looking a - looks as if there's more fabric to roll up, iyswim - although you may not need as much as me!

Nuttybear · 24/06/2010 22:09

Lovely, Where was MN when I was size 10. If they had a site like this when I was 25 I would have dressed to show off my figure. You lot are great.
Now back to the here and now. The folded waist doesn't roll up so maybe they haven't got my custom this time but the colour is just right. I might go back and see if they have a suitsuit

I got one in Peter Jones which I think is a John Lewis, and the waist definitely rolls up. I'm pretty sure Bravissimo also had them.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 24/06/2010 23:17

Here.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 24/06/2010 23:20

This also comes in a lovely coral colour.

Nuttybear · 24/06/2010 23:38

Coral too show stopper for me. Thank you I do think I need to try it on first. So i think I'm off to John Lewis, the home of the matron (me) I'm not good doing mail order which is such a shame as Figleave stuff looks so good. (I would never find time to post it back!)

what a shame you don't fancy trying figleaves. I have some bikinis from there that are brilliant, esp. the tops - triumph for your curves - not the halter neck, the underwired one. They do cup sizes which makes a difference. (I am fifty, so older than you, but a bit smaller)

I wear mine in the garden all the time and I couldn't give a toss. I'll be wearing them on the beach next week too. I take a sarong or a tshirt with me and just pull it on/wrap it round when heading for the pool, or if the phone rings or anything.

I have in the past worn swimsuits and they are unpleasantly hot. Can't be arsed anymore. Triumph is not very expensive either. Go for it!

FolornHope · 25/06/2010 16:38

do mail order you weirdo

BarefootShirl · 25/06/2010 17:03

I agree with Faustina - swimsuits are very hot, uncomfortable and do nothing for your figure. At least, that's the view of my DM who wore them for a while but has now gone back to a bikini.

Personally, if it's for the garden then just go for a style you fancy and let the neighbours think what they like. I live in my bikinis (or, more often, the bottoms ) at home in the summer, indoors and out. Generally I buy online from Figleaves or our local Debenhams.
