I have so many huge cratery spots on my face from chicken pox, i cant imagine that they are going to NOT scar.....would bio oil work? Or at least help?

Not sure if it would work for you, but dh had horribly scarred legs - dark pigment and bio oil has made it so much better. His legs aren't back to 'normal' yet, but he's not great about remembering to use it.

add bio oil to my oil cleansing regime now and then, id say it works.

i have a friend who had a massive scar and swears by it.

BikeRunSki · 22/06/2010 21:36

Yes, but you have to use it every day, for months. But it has worked wonders for me, and my various scars, including CS scar.

I had an injury recently to my face requiring sutures. The plastic surgeon, told me that after two weeks after taking out the sutures to start massaging (fairly vigorously) with biooil. He said though that it's not so much the oil, as the vigorous massage which does the trick. There's also another thing you can get for scars a silicone cream, which is apparently quite good if that doesn't work. He said, that the scar you have at 18 months is what it will remain as. HTH

I have a scar on my knee from a moped accident, it definitely continued to improve well beyond 18 months I would say (might be to do with the fact I was 19 when I did it? tho). It started out red and raised and stayed that way for a long, long time. Now has faded to white and is not very noticeable apart from loss of pigment and change in texture of skin. There is no way that your pox will be so deep into the skin though so I hope you won't scar at all in the long run tho the marks might take an annoyingly long time to fade.

I had a silicone patch that I wore on it and it did do wonders, it is something they use for burn victims as my scar was more of a burn from the scraping on the road but I don't see why any scar isn't the same. Interesting if there is a cream version as you could wear it at night. The silicone patch I wore is thick and has to be kept on with bandages so not suitable for your face I think.

Sounds like the bio oil is really worth a go.

Hello, i have many scars after a near-fatal car crash and I have tried it all. I don't think bio-oil works. I think what makes the difference is what rufus says- the scar massage. I had physios do this for me every day and they said E45 is best for fading scars. I also used silicone cream and patches and they worked wonders but not sure about facially.I really would save your money with regard to the bio oil to be honest. I wish you luck though as I know how self-conscious scarring can make us!

I put some sudocreme on a scar I've had for ages on my nose (roller skatig accident from my youth). Only did it once but was way less red the next day!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 23/06/2010 16:38

ok thanks everyone for the responses! i might see if i can find any on offer anywhere and if not, i wil lgo with sudocreme or e45.

Aromatherapy oils like lavander and rose (make sure they're good quality) mixed in a base with wheatgerm which has vit E in it & sweet almond oil. Sorry can't suggest how much to use but go online to check. This blend together with massage will really help!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 24/06/2010 13:53

thanks willybreeder

i am a huge fan of bio oil and would recommend it - it is not going to work miracles in my experience but the tone of the skin where I have applied it in the past has definitely improved and it appears more even and slightly more "flawless" than it was before - although yes you do have to use it consistently over a period of time (months not days)

trilliAnasTra · 24/06/2010 15:47

I have a small bottle of bio oil and am planning on doing an experiment where I put it on the stretch marks only on the left side of my body. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hopefully · 24/06/2010 16:26

I would definitely recommend it, but agree with others - the massage is probably at least as important as the product you're massaging in. I think the fact that bio-oil was so bloody expensive made me bother to spend the time to give it max chance of working!
