was half price in store.

can't decide if I was overly swayed by the price... it's a bit smarter than my usual frumpery...

It's lovely but I think if you are unsure, you might never wear it - i've done it so many times, bought something a bit different to my usual style and it has sat unworn for many years.

My rule of thumb now is unless something is REALLY cheap (and even then) don't buy it unless you would be quite happy to put it on and walk around in it immediately, outside, home from the shop.

That always works because it means the thing is 'me' already and I don't need to feel a particular (once in a blue moon) way in order to feel comfortable in it.

I would keep it a week without taking the tags off, then by that time I'd have probably seen something far nicer to spend the dosh on and take it back with no regrets

OTOH it is v nice - does it go with anything you already have?

muddleduck · 22/06/2010 19:26

good post FA.

I made myself wear it out of the shop (bought end of last week while the weather was still grim). Fortunately I was wearing decent shoes so (I think) I looked fab. Given that it was in the sale I wouldn't be able to change my mind and take it back anyway...

I'm hoping that if I just make myself wear it then I can make this my style IYKWIM. I know that I'd like it on someone else. I'm almost a bit grumpy that the weather means I can't wear it

Am most relieved that you don't all hate it. I have a bad track record with impulse buys in the sales.

btw what are 'daps'

Oh and it goes with everything I own - I have a new blue/red colour scheme .

That is a beautiful coat that could be worn with so very much. Unfortunately double breasted is a no-no with my norks.

motherlovebone · 22/06/2010 21:34

daps are canvas deck shoes/plimsoles [sp?]

was going to add, if it is your colour then go for it.

classic styling, years in it imo.

partyhats · 22/06/2010 21:42

It is lovely, just my sort of style actually. Good buy as will go with lots of things.

racingheart · 22/06/2010 23:02

It's gorgeous. Lovely colour.

muddleduck · 23/06/2010 19:37

hmmm ticktock - now you have me worried...

I usually have a 'no double breasted' rule for a similar reason, but I really do think this is flattering even with my 32H top ...
