Couldn't decide where best to post this, but went for here because my motives are pure vanity

I'm going to stop eating bread, drink lots of peppermint tea, porridge for breakfast everyday....

Any other tips? oh, and situps of course!

Can I have your hints and tips please- I'm sick of looking pregnant; my youngest is now 2.5

muggglewump · 18/06/2010 21:46

Stop eating and breathe in?

wineismysaviour · 18/06/2010 21:49

lie on your back..

redhappy · 18/06/2010 21:54

I was running for a while last year and i did really see a difference. Dp works away, so I can't get out for a run very often (he is home for a total of 1 night next month!).

Don't drink because I can't afford it (3 alcoholic drinks so far this year), and gave up coffee a year ago. I think I need to plan my eating more. I like to graze rather than actually sit down for a meal and if I'm more prepared with healthy snacks will make massive difference.

Reverse breathing techniques
Breathe in, pull in stomach muscles, breathe out, pull stomach muscles in even more.
Release and repeat
Very effective, can be done anywhere.
When you get really good, you can do a couple in a row before you release. They are very good post birth for closing your abdominal gap and when your back is too knackered to do sit ups.

redhappy · 18/06/2010 21:55

Oh and I lost a lot of weight when I was ill this winter, have put on nearly a stone since we moved house 6weeks ago though! is possibly where the stomach has appeared from! But I am only just 8 stone now, so doesn't seem fair.

OOh sounds good shufflebum.

Are they the ones where you pull in, then up? I think I'm using the core muscle, but nobody has ever shown me so I can't be sure.

Go off diet drinks, no more aspartame. Cut down on refined sugar in biscuits, etc., as well as crisps and other junky snacks. Up your intake of dairy, but not sweetened yogurt. A really good brisk walk every day will help too. Some handweights and a bit of lifting of same will burn calories too.

shufflebum · 18/06/2010 22:08

redhappy you can do them like that but they are a bit more complicated and easier to get wrong if like you say you haven't got someone with you to make sure you are isolating the correct muscles so I just stick to the simple version!

Naetha · 18/06/2010 22:09

30 Day Shred.

There's a big thread on Big Slim Whatever here - it's got a LOT of followers.

I'm on day 14 of it, and already seen great results. I'm fairly certain that under the flab I have an awesome 6 pack now. It's also great for your TVA muscles (the ones that actually hold your tummy in) and I've really noticed my stomach being much smaller even though I haven't lost that much more weight.

redhappy · 18/06/2010 22:11

crisps biscuits etc have to go- I get addicted too easily, all or nothing.

Only drink water and herbal teas anyway, although I've started drinking watered down juice to hold off sugar cravings.

Do I really need dairy? Really? I don't eat much because the thought (and smell) makes me feel sick since breastfeeding my own children...Is it the calcium or something else I need from it?

I just bought myself a hula hoop - a weighted one. Seriously good for trimming that waist.

tethersend · 18/06/2010 22:11

Turn back time and don't utter the immortal words "It'll probably be alright" during sex.

NonnoMum · 18/06/2010 22:15

Is the abdominal gap the reason my belly seems to be in two halves now?

redhappy · 18/06/2010 22:16

tethersend how did you know?!

OP posts:
tethersend · 18/06/2010 22:19

I know, redhappy.... I know.

shufflebum · 18/06/2010 22:19

NonnoMum if you mean vertically then yes, if horizontally then you need help

redhappy · 18/06/2010 22:24

So if I lean back and run my fingers down my stomach and I can feel a gap, it shouldn't be there?
And if I follow your exercises shufflebum I will be able to join it back together again? I think that would make a massive difference actually.
