I used to use dermoligica but stopped as wanted something cheaper. Tried simple, no luck. Tried oil cleansing and skin got even worse.

Now I am out of ideas. I like light weigh products.

I think need about 10 facials but money is low...

Have you tried uk.lizearle.com/

Have you tried to find out why your skin is terrible?

could be hormonal or dietary

zinc deficiency can cause bad skin

worth looking into before you spend a fortune on skin care

binjibaghi · 18/06/2010 20:43

have you looked at dermologica online it can be a lot cheaper.

but also agree with ggirl - my doctor prescribes me a mild antibiotic when i have a break out and it helps more than anything else.

2 other things that have really helped me recently are - getting a decent foundation - clinique works for me - and recently stopped all diet and fizzy drinks after reading side effects of sweetners here on mn and skin much better !!

I do eat alot of choc and cakes, but always have done so dont think its that. I think it could be hormonal as the spots are mainly around the chin and forehead.

How can I find out if I am lacking in anything? Would it have to be a blood test?

I have got clinique face wash and moisturiser and feel they are too much of a strong product for my skin.

If you have persistently bad skin it's maybe worth getting a blood test done. I've suffered with bad skin for years regardless of what products I use. I discovered recently that I had a high testosterone level which is a sign of PCOS. The doctor put me on Dianette which is finally making my skin look better.

Most of my spots were on the chin which I think indicates a hormone imbalance.

You could also start taking a multivitamin if you don't already, as I think spots are associated with lack of zinc and certain B vitamins.

B6 is good for skin.

I started taking Agnus Castus tablets (1000mg) a few months ago and my hormonal spots have pretty much cleared up, it's made a real difference to me, the only other things that worked before were dianette or pregnancy

flibb - I am wondering if my hormones have changed and I have got a high testosterone level, as i have a much higher sex drive and lots of spots.

I really, really rate this (after having increasingly worsening skin and then a complete oil cleansing method disaster).

www.paulaschoice.co.uk/?gclid=COXzstKDraICFReX2AodjjHQUA

not that well known, but read her book on all the b.s. around the beauty industry (was so glad I read that book before I fully convinced myself I needed to try Creme de la mer), then decided to try her stuff - with a pretty cynical eye. My skin is sloads better, and am actually still enamoured 6 months later...much of which down to this product particularly www.paulaschoice.co.uk/2-beta-hydroxy-acid-lotion-2.html

Know its not that cheap, but her book does actually give cheaper alternatives to her products too (she rates a few of the boots expert line actually).

Hope of some use.
