So what do you wear with slightly too short dresses?

Am having to get a bit more formal with a role I have a work. Have ordered some dresses but they are slightly above the knee and I don't know what to wear them with. They were the only ones I liked. My legs aren't good enough to be showing my knees off.

Tights = no (would wear opaques in autumn/winter but not for summer)
Leggings = Not formal enough?
Do shorter leggings (mid calf) look rubbish for work
help!

This sounds a bit strange but what about a skirt of the same colour underneath but a bit longer?

I have a lovely blue flowery dress thats a bit short so wear a blue skirt underneath, it just looks like a layer.

Well there aren't really any other options I don't think

How about some nice 'bare' type tights, rather than opaque?

Hmmm. Bit stuck if you need to look formal/smart.

I wear leggings under too-short dresses. You probably could get away with some good quality, quite thin black leggings and heels if you can get away with smart/casual. But if it's a proper office environment, you're abit stuck.

I think leggings could look good and formal enough if the rest of you is well groomed and smart.

I was going to say the same as Tracey . It's the whole look that matters, so footless tights with heels can look very smart if your hair is nicely done and you have some nice jewellery and a smart jacket for example.
