Anyone know about altering dresses?

This dress has just arrived but by the time I ordered they only had a 14 in stock. I am a 12 but have a large bosom. It fits fine on the chest but is really too wide on the hips. Would a decent dress maker be able to make it fit? Is it worth it or should I just send it back?

TIA.

I'm not a dressmaker but often have to have things taken in at the hips and it is generally a very simple and inexpensive alteration. That dress doesn't appear to have darts, so it would probably just be a matter of taking in the side seams. Any competent dressmaker or tailor should have no problem.
Lovely dress BTW.

Glad you like it. Seemed too much of a bargain not to snap up. It's lovely on and I can see me
getting lots of wear from it. Will take it to a tailor and see what they say. Thank you!
