Anyone had fillers for nose-lip line creases? Got a consultation tomorrow

I'm 35 and since having DS 3 years ago and losing a lot of pregnancy weight I've developed wrinkles going from my nose to mouth which I feel are very aging and drag my face down. I've booked a consultation with Collagenics tomorrow (as recommended by my trusted beautician) and I think I will be able to go ahead then too if I want

So I was wondering if anyone has had this done and what the results were like? Also what sort of questions should I be asking? I will check about the safety/allergy aspects obviously.

I can't be of any help I'm afraid but like you I hate my "laughter" lines and now actively try not to smile. I lost lots of weight and my face has suffered.

When I moan to DP he just says "Go and get them filled then" but I wonder if a mini face lift might be better as I do worry about what's in the fillers and what effect they may have 20 or 30 years down the line.

Hopefully someone will come along who'll be of more help but best of luck tomorrow and please come back and let us know how you got on.

Well I had it done! I am very pleased with it, it really has taken years off me. It was very straightforward and not too painful at all. I do feel slightly like I have 2 large worms under my skin and I'm paranoid that the skin looks a little over inflated from certain angles but I think these issues will subside as it settles in

The before and after photos should be on my profile - not very professional pics I'm afraid as I took them myself

Oh wow. What a difference!

I think you've convinced me. I've been putting it off but the results are amazing. I'm really stunned. I thought it would take a week or so to see the results but they really are immediate. Do you feel more confident now?

A few questions ~ Did you look swollen and red afterwards and how long did the redness last? When you smile do you wrinkle somewhere else on your face now? And the obvious question... What's the cost?

TheLemur · 18/06/2010 13:32

Yes the results are instant! I think it's botox that takes a while to get to full results.

It's still a bit swollen I think and I'm slightly nervous that people can tell I've had it done so I'm not super confident yet! Definitely happy though!

I didn't go red at all. There is still a bit of swelling (although it's hard to tell what is filler and what is swelling), I think it's supposed to go down after 3 days. My smile looks totally normal and I'm not wrinkling elsewhere on my face. I'm off to my parents this weekend so it'll be interesting to see if they notice. DH didn't notice til I pointed it out - then he was amazed by how good/effective it was

It wasn't cheap, £275. It should last 6-12 months but it can be less or more so I'll have to wait and see! It was all a lot easier and less fuss than I expected to be honest, you can see how celebrities get addicted to it! Post with your pics if you take the plunge!

I've also looked at the pics - it's very impressive!! I'm not surprised you're pleased.

Amandoh · 18/06/2010 17:03

It's good that your DH didn't notice. It must look very natural. Hate the puffiness around the mouth that Lulu and Meg Ryan are now sporting.

Pleased to hear that there isn't any redness. I don't drive so would have to travel home on the bus or train and I'd feel silly if I was all red and swollen around the mouth.

£275.00 is less than I thought it would be. I had the £400.00 figure in my head so that's good news. There was a similar thread to this a while ago and a clinic not too far from me in Purley was suggested so, having seen your results, I'm going to pop in on Monday and book an appointment. Can they fill the lines in the forehead do you know? I'm really not keen on having botox as I don't want to "freeze" my forehead and eyebrows but would like to lessen the little line between my eyebrows and my frown lines.

LimaCharlie · 18/06/2010 20:59

Ooooh TheLemur the results are fab

Amandoh · 01/07/2010 12:21

TheLemur ~ Hello again, Just wondered how things went when you visited your parents. Did they notice a difference?

Have "The two worms" flattened out at all and are you still pleased with the results?

I'm booked in for a consultation at The Garden Clinic in Purley next Saturday (10th) and then if I want to go ahead and they're not too busy I can have the filler the same day. Have looked at their website and I think I might have some botox above my brows too to lift and hopefully pull the little crease between my brows apart. Not sure if you can have filler and botox at the same time but will find out at the consultation.

TheLemur · 01/07/2010 21:19

Hi Amandoh, I've been wondering if you'd booked anything! My parents didn't notice, infact no-one has noticed, not even my old uni friends I saw this weekend! No-one has said I look good/young either tho, hmmmm.

The worms are still there, I guess this is just what filler's like and they'll slowly shrink over time

Interestingly I saw that the receipt said Teosyal Deep Line, and to be honest I don't think I needed a deep line filler, but she didn't discuss it with me and maybe she didn't have anything else. The side where my line was deepest is brilliant, I'm chuffed to bits. The other side I can occasionally see the ridge of the worm at certain angles and in certain lights but it's not a problem at all

I am really very pleased I had it done. I think I was being cautious the few days after I had it done as it did feel a bit hot/itchy and I was paranoid about allergic reactions etc but now it's settled down beautifully I'm definitely more confident! And I'll certainly do it again. The difference especially without makeup is immense, I don't look sunken and grumpy anymore! Let me know how you go on the 10th or just ask anymore questions that pop up!

I think it's botox next for me by the way!

Hey Amandoh how did it go?!

OP posts:
Amandoh · 17/07/2010 23:57

TheLemur ~ I had to cancel the appointment as I had a temperature that weekend and was all fuzzy headed on a concoction of Nurofen and Lemsips. I really wasn't in any fit state to let someone near my face with a syringe.

Still HATE my laughter lines and feel very conscious of them so will have to re-book soon. Not sure whether to book again with The Garden Clinic though as the Doctor that performs the procedures is only there at weekends. If I'm in a panic about my face on a Wednesday I'd like the Dr to see me there and then!

I think it's a good thing that no one has noticed you've had fillers. Clearly the "worms" aren't visible. Has the slight ridge on one side lessened now that a month has passed? Also, if you do go ahead and have botox what area/areas of your face do you think you'll have done?

tulip27 · 18/07/2010 08:34

Hello, I used to carry out these procedures and every woman I did it to loved it. The thing you absolutly must do afterwards is gently massage the area to prevent any lumps. You may have a little redness that will last 10 minutes only. My favourite product to use was called Hyrdafill, I had very good results from this.
I am sure you will look great but I warn you, you'll never go back to being 'natural' again.

omnishambles · 18/07/2010 08:38

Amandoh - is there a Sk:n clinic near you? (I know theres one in Epsom) I've found them very good (admittedly for other things)

TheLemur · 20/07/2010 11:42

Amandoh sorry you had to put it off and I know what you mean about wanting it done the instant you decide to go for it!

I still have a slight ridge but it is really teeny and I think I'm the only person to ever notice it and it's only in a certain side light. I'm just a perfectionist! I wonder if this was my nurses 'left hand' side if you see what I mean (you know how certain things are just a bit less easy when on your non dominant side?) It's really a non-issue but I will just mention it next time to see if the nurse can put the filler in at a slightly different angle.

I think I may have botox just in my frown lines but I have decided to wait a bit longer now that the rest of my face looks so youthful!

tulip27 that is really interesting. I wasn't told to massage my filler, the nurse did this for me. I don't think I can go back to being natural again now, I've got used to my younger looking face and I love it! Mind you, I'm not about to do a Katie Price
