hello,

this has been done before but ages ago, i looked at the old thread but not many replies; i am seriously thinking of having this done and was wondering if any of you ladies on here have had it done, and where, and what the result was like?? and how much does it cost?

TIA x

I had this done earlier today and am not entirely sure about it as yet, my hair doesn't feel silky and soft or look particularly shiny, it feels just tacky and like there's too much product in it and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have ridiculously thick naturally curly hair so wasn't expecting miracles, but I wasn't expecting this either.

Am not allowed to wash it until Tuesday so am trying to keep an open mind.

Any reassurance would be great.

Hi,

I had it done in mid May and it is great- seriously feel like I can have a good hair day everyday ! I have wavy/ kinky hair that I cannot dry straight myself so my hair never looked polished and I spent my life in having blow drys. I worked out that is is cheaper for to have the Keratin treatment done at 200euro once every three months rather than a weekly blow dry. I even cut my hair shorter in a layered style that I always wanted as I knew I could manage it myself.

The first few days are tough- you just want to scratch your head but I am booked in for my second in a couple of weeks.

Thanks x

Will sit it out and report back on Tuesday, hopefully feeling much better about it all.

I have to confess the not washing my hair for 4 days does not bother me at all as my hair actually looks better dirty, so usually only wash it once week!

Fingers crossed

Are you allowed to use dry shampoo in the first few days does anyone know? I am booked in to have it done on Wednesday but am going somewhere nice for lunch on Friday and seeing as I can't wash it I wondered if you could use dry shampoo.

sansucre · 17/08/2010 21:53

As mentioned above, I had this done on Friday was was fretting somewhat because my hair felt horrible and tacky to the touch and while straight, was not glossy in the least.

I washed it early and was rather thrilled to see that even when wet, it felt completely different and was noticeably less curly.

I let it dry naturally and while not pin straight, something I hadn't expected anyway, it was wavy and my hairline, once the frizziest thing ever, was still smooth. 10 minutes later after running my GHDs through it, it is super smooth and shiny - I have never ever had shiny hair before.
The best thing is that my hair swings and swishes, and it hangs properly when tied back into a ponytail.

I have super fuzzy Jew-fro hair that grows upwards and outwards, and am used to spending an hour blow-drying my hair, so I think this treatment is nothing short of miraculous and thoroughly recommend.

I had very few expectations of this, and for once, I am not disappointed :o

Where did you have it done? I think I want it.

sansucre · 17/08/2010 22:47

Despite being a regular at a posh hairdressers on Conduit St, I refuse to pay the price they quoted me, so was thankful I found a local hairdresser near me in East London, on Roman Road actually.

The girl who did it talked too much, but she was sweet and has done a good job, particularly as I have so much hair. The whole thing took just under 2 hours and cost £110 - the treatment was £99 and the additional cost was for a trim. I think the whole thing was a bargin!

I've read quite extensively online about this, and the process is pretty foolproof, so am sure there will be somewhere near you. Additionally I believe Toni & Guy may do it.

Alouiseg · 17/08/2010 22:50

That's reassuring as I also have shedloads of hair. It would save me money I think as my hair is so bloody unruly I invest in a weekly blow-dry and the Brazilian would put an end to that. Thank you

How do you think ut would cope with summer humidity? I am going back to Australia in the middle of summer.

It is too hot to blowdry my hair all the time. So do you think it could handle the heat?

sansucre · 23/08/2010 09:31

I've just got back from a weekend in Paris. It was 31 degrees and my hair did not puff up or frizz out.

The treatment is miraculous!

Gabrialla · 14/08/2011 22:11

i have this treatment done every threee to four months for £100. it has been the biggest miracle in my life. i have very curly and frizzy hair. the treatment doesnt staighten my hair, but it keeps it free from frizz, makes my hair very soft, healthy, smooth and easy to mange. i would definatly recommend my hairdresser in brighton, she works as mobile and also has a treatment room in her home. I really, really want to have this done.

The only thing that puts me off is not being able to wash my hair for 4 days after it. I have to wash my hair everyday, it looks like a grease ball by day 2 if I don't.

Can you use dry shampoo on it until it can be washed?

Bobolbach · 14/08/2011 22:47

I had this done a few months back and the salon I went to uses a system that you don't have to leave on for 4 days, so miss all the manky stage.

You leave the hairdressers with the finished article as it were.

Can't remember the product name, but going tomorrow, so will find out and post back.

My hair is very fine straight(ish) and never holds a style. For about a week after I had it done it was very flat, but the condition was teriffic. After the first week, it looked less severe and far more natural. Since having it done, I have not used my GHD's. It's enough to damp it down and blast with hairdryer in morning. For the first time in my life, my hair looks OK throughout the day and not just for the first 10 mins after styling. My haircut is just a bob - nothing that most people would struggle with anyway, but before my hair just always looked messy.

I will be having it done again soon. I paid £135 including the shampoo and conditioner, both of which have lasted and I won't need any more before having it done again.

Didn't notice that most of this thread was so old.
Or the person that bumped it was giving out salon details.
