Which Deodrant is Best in V Hot Climate?

GeekOfTheWeek · 16/06/2010 09:56

Okay I know it is a bizarre op but i am hoping someone can recommend a good deodrant for holidays in a hot place.

I use dove silk stick normally which is fine but not sure if it will give enough protection abroad.

I have used mitchum before which was great but hurt my underarms.

I am not a big sweaty smelly mare btw I just want to ensure I smell ok after a night out on hols!

i was going to suggest the mitchum stick, keeps me dry and doesnt bring me out in a rash, the roll on and spray are no good though.

Have also used the dove silk stick and sure stick and they are nice enough but i get a rash after a while.

beanlet · 16/06/2010 12:47

I use mitchum and think it's brilliant, but my DH is a bit allergic to it, so maybe for some people it's problematic.

When I work in the tropics I often use Bionsen, a Japanese deodorant; love the smell. It's not an antiperspirant (i.e. it doesn't stop you from sweating), but in terms of smell it works very well.

LouIsWaltzingMatilda · 16/06/2010 12:49

I use Sure. It is branded as Rexona in Australia and I have never had a problem there or here. I have used it in 48' weather and did not smell that much afterwards.

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/06/2010 12:51

I have just tried this fantastic deodorant - it is Sure 48H. It is next to the extra strength deodorants in teh supermarket, and is one of those push up creams. Costs a fiver. You put it on overnight and I swear you don't sweat a drop the next day.

It is really good - I was really apprehensive as I have used Driclor in the past and that made my underarms burn and itch, but this one is really good. Highly recommend it.

I don't like those crystal thinsg for the reason that they don't stop you sweating. OK, you don't smell but you still have great wet patched under your arms

minipie · 16/06/2010 13:07

Yup I use the Sure 48H or whatever it's called too.

Dove also do a similar one that is called Maximum Strength or something.

Bloody expensive and runs out quickly - but it definitely works way better than any of the normal deodorants.

Botox

scratchmyback · 16/06/2010 15:41

GetOrf, that sounds really good. I have tried Driclor and others like it and I have to wash it off straight away because it stings me like mad.

I am going to try the Sure 48hr on you recommendation. Is it really good? I am ok in the winter but in hot weather I sweat quite a bit since I had hormone treatment.

TubbyDuffs · 16/06/2010 15:46

I live in the ME and use Mitchum, have tried one of those ones you paint on the night before and that worked well, but can't remember what it was called! (Also, things are only in stock now and again and haven't found it since.)

ilovemydogandMrObama · 16/06/2010 15:50

Triple Dry. TMI warning: used in labor (under arms) and didn't even sweat . You use it the night before....

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/06/2010 15:57

It really is good.

I used to be so paranoid - at work i would keep surreptitisouly check under my arms for whiffiness and damp patches. It has truly stopped all that. I put some on overnight, and then reapply in the morning just in case. It's excellent.

GeekOfTheWeek · 16/06/2010 18:10

Thanks for your replies.

GetOrf, I think i will try that sure one. Can I use it like normal deodrant? Would I just apply after showering?

I have been using the sure 48 hour one - just like a normal deodorant for last nine months - best i have ever used - no white marks on your clothes either!

Bumperlicious · 16/06/2010 19:40

Getorf, I used to use Driclor - the stuff is torture - though it does work. I remember talking to a friend about it and he said the key is to get really drunk then you don't notice it hutting like buggery when you pass out!

I use Mitchum, but feel it has been failing me recently. Might check out the Sure stuff. I don't tend to smell but am a complete sweaty betty!

janmoomoo · 21/06/2010 20:41

Yes Driclor is torture. But Linden Voss Triple Dry stick is the biz. Can get in Boots. Put it on at night, wash off in morning, and not one tiny droplet of sweat will be perceptible on your underarm. It is expensive but soooo worth it and lasts a reasonable time.

If I was somewhere hot I would do this at night (start a couple of weeks before hols) and wear a quick slick of a normal one in the morning.

scratchmyback · 21/06/2010 21:26

Driclor stings me like mad. Is the Linden Voss one the same? I haven't tried that.

Mitchum has been letting me down too - I bought some of the Sure 48 hour stuff at weekend - used it today and noticed a little difference, but will put it on tonight too.

Can you only get it in the cream? No spray or roll on?

Maize · 21/06/2010 21:30

I always wear Dove on holidays and its fine for me. I do tend to shower twice a day though so it only has to last 10 hours...
