Which changing bag?

mrsflux · 16/06/2010 09:47

I can't decide!!!

It's probably either this or this

I'm not sure which is better shape. I do carry it on my shoulder for toddler group etc but also put it on buggy handlebars lots.

What do we think?

Yes I am being indecisive!

Or any better ideas? (dh bought me a yummy mummy one but it's just not me)

The OiOi ones are nice. I have the snakeskin hobo. Its great - doesn't look like a changing bag. My friend has the giraffe print sac one, I love it but not so keen on the "burnt sienna" (i.e bright orange) lining and accessories.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 16/06/2010 11:09

Just get a nice handbag and a fold-up changing mat!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/06/2010 11:20

I second Schnitzel's advice. Don't spend you money on a changing bag. I always used a bigger handbag and shoved everything in.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/06/2010 11:21

or even: your money

mrsflux · 16/06/2010 11:27

wifyhome funnily enough I was lookig at the skip hop blossom one yesterday! Not sure I it's big enough tho as I do like to travel with the kitchen sink!

Sloany- is the hobo big enough for toys, lunch and drinks for ds etc?

Haven't seen any big bags I like that would suit yet.

You can get a free one when you join boots parenting club

mrsflux · 16/06/2010 11:39

Tried many times to get free one from boots. I'm still waiting despite numerous calls/emails/ moaning in store.
Tbh it's not that exciting looking and would rather have something bit more interesting.

The one I have used for the last 4 years (2 dds and hope to use for dc3 due in 3 weeks) is the Caboodle bag this is the one I have. It is great for carrying (have a bad back), and fits over buggy handle well. It is also plain enough that dh doesn't mind carrying it on days out.

Maryqueenofmops · 16/06/2010 13:13

Defintely just get a big bag, changing bags are a waste of money!!

flowerybeanbag · 16/06/2010 13:19

I have the hobo sack, in a blue flower print. It's great, attaches to buggy handles, has compartments for bottles and other pockets, meaning that stuff doesn't all fall to the bottom, so you can put things in places you'll be able to find them. Plenty of room for stuff for both my two - nappy changing and bottle stuff for DS2 and change of clothes, snacks and drinks bottle for DS1.

flowery- oooh was hoping I'd find someone who had one of these!
Do you find the bag a bit too large/ bulky if you carry it over your shoulder? My current bag is a bit but it's hard to guage how the hobo sack would sit on your shoulder/ against your side.
Good to hear it copes well with 2dc. Were ttc dc2!

I have just bought a lovely changing bag that I intend on re-using as a weekend-type bag post-DC's.

Had a SkipHop with DS that I hated and decided I'd 'invest' this time. Bonus is, have never seen anyone else with one. I need to compartments and stuff to organise me and a normal bag just wouldn't cut it.

Here is the one I went for, but they make them up for you in whichever of their fabrics you like. I love it.

LadySanders · 16/06/2010 21:12

i've got a denim skip hop duo and while it is far less beautiful than your giraffe one, i have to say it has been brilliant and still looks good as new 2 years on... it has separate handles to hook on the buggy which are particularly good feature rather than one long strap gettin gin the way

redllamayellowllama · 16/06/2010 21:16

I need to have compartments Didn't want anyone to think there was a homophone mistake (teacher, can't help myself)

wifyhome · 16/06/2010 22:39

redllamayellowllama i looooove that bag! bit pricey though!

redllamayellowllama · 17/06/2010 09:52

Health in Pregnancy Grant . I will use it to transport fruit sometimes.

mrsflux · 17/06/2010 10:01

Man! I wish I'd got that!
Ds arrived on the first day the scheme started. If that'd been his official duedate then I'd have got it!

Nice bag but above my budget really

mrsflux it is bulky to be fair, but a smaller bag one wouldn't hold everything I need for the two of them, so it's swings and roundabouts really. The strap is adjustable, so you can either have it sitting very long below your hip or higher up. In terms of shape, I do think a 'flatter' style would probably sit better against your side when over your shoulder if you need to carry it that way a lot.

I have two pushchairs, a Quinny Zapp for when DS1 is walking and only DS2 is in the pushchair, and a P&T for both of them. I always hang the bag on the back of the Zapp, which is fine. With the P&T the trouble is I can't do that because it would conk DS2 on the head in the doubles seat underneath , so on those occasions I do have to have it over my shoulder. Although actually now I think about it, when using the P&T on my own I'm usually either going to the swings or to the shop, so don't bring a bag anyway, not needing changing stuff or whatever. When we do have the P&T and need a bag tends to be at weekends going somewhere in which case DH is with me so we have either the pushchair or the bag each.

It's never very far or very long in terms of time that I might be carrying it over my shoulder without a pushchair - ie carrying DS2 in my arms, so that's fine.

I'm rambling now, guess my point is think about when and how you're going to use it.

mrsflux · 17/06/2010 21:29

think i might go for the slouchy one!
just gotta find dh and his credit card!

BTW - he has lost the receipt for original bag BUT as he bought it on credit card in john lewis they somehow managed to check that and so gave him proper refund - even without receipt/ price tags etc!

noooo get a babymel they are fab. Comfy slouch soft bag but lots of pockets inc. insulated. Really nice and cheaper too!

mrsflux · 18/06/2010 07:57

I liked the style of the babymel I saw but didn't think it was big enough for me. I like to plan for every eventuality

i've fitted quite a bit in..nappies/wipes snacks for youngests and spare set of clothes for middle one (potty training) quite a good size i'd say...but not huge. I like it as doesn't look like changing bag at all and easy to clip onto buggy or pram.
