Can you help me choose a hair colour for Friday?

Be gentle - I hate going to the hairdressers (I joined the thread) and I hate looking at myself in the mirror/taking photos.

But have put some pics up for a couple of days.

I think I want to go darker.

Have had blondish (gradually blonder highlights for a while).

Had my colours done and suit "deep" and "cool" because of my eyes I think - similar to "winter" colours.

I think this colour is nice but kind of clashes.

NO-one is nosy enough to want to help me!

yes I think a darker colour would make your lovely blue eyes stand out
is this too dark for you?
I think it would look great

Are your eyes blue or green? Either way they are stunning and I also think a darker colour would really suit you.A chocolatey colour maybe?

jamaisjedors · 15/06/2010 21:52

I wanted to go darker last time ggirl (I had grown out quite a lot of dark root) but the colourist said it would be too much of a shock.

I am still keen.

My eyes are dark blue - kind of navy.

It's true that the pics are too small to see properly.

Yes go much darker, you could carry off a real chocolate brown with your colouring.

jamaisjedors · 15/06/2010 22:00

Keep the fringe (grown out a bit now and swept to the side) - or ditch?

OP posts:
brimfull · 15/06/2010 22:00

keep fringe
it will suit you

brimfull · 15/06/2010 22:01

yes get proper fringe back again

and post some pics when you've had it done!

JaynieB · 15/06/2010 22:03

I think a darker colour would suit you too. Are you changing the style? Maybe a slightly shorter - on the shoulder length would look foxy with darker hair? Keep fringe.

ashcloud · 15/06/2010 22:05

Agree with those who suggest a darker brown, like this:
HERE

Your face shape doesn't need a fringe - I'd definitely avoid a very blunt fringe, but a kind of grown-out affair would be ok if you feel you need hair on your face.

BTW - Your hair is lovely and shiny, and you have great skin and a pretty face. Don't hate the camera!

Ok, am going Friday morning.

Nice to have some encouragement about the colour, it will make me braver.

Am happy to hear ideas about the style, but not TOO short - the hairdresser cut it into an above-the-shoulder bob 6 mths ago, and lots of people's comments were:

"OH. You've had your hair cut. Well. It's a big change."

I have quite a small head too and wide-ish shoulders so a bob makes me look a bit pin-head!

Off to bed but am still interested in comments.

Looks like a nice consensus on darker then.

Noone thinks it would look terrible?

Having a bit of a "chicken" moment - asked a RL friend who said she really liked my hair as it is and dark would really wash me out.

dawntigga · 17/06/2010 19:42

Might be the wrong person to ask as my hair is now bright red.

jamaisjedors · 17/06/2010 20:06

Well great - isn't that a lovely feeling?

Hope I feel like that tomorrow and not like hiding under a paper bag!

Actually my biggest worry is looking loads older, I have really dry skin and eczema, which has left me with lots of fine lines.

I'm worried I'll look like an old hag!

Sidge · 17/06/2010 20:55

No don't have a chicken moment!! Go for it, if you really hate it darker then you can always have it lightened.

I think it will really suit you, a lovely rich chocolate brown.

jamaisjedors · 17/06/2010 20:58

Thank you sidge.

I am thinking I should be brave, but I've got a whole university meeting/lunch thing on Wednesday and I just know that a change in hair colour will make me all at the "do".

OP posts:
ashcloud · 17/06/2010 21:01

Be brave.

jamaisjedors · 17/06/2010 21:04

Am currently browsing websites about "colours" - as I am closest to a "winter" I am burning onto my brain:

"Styles To Avoid Blonde in all variations and brown tones with copper reflections. Highlights frosting, streaks, containing blondes or auburn." beauty and the bath

OP posts:
dawntigga · 18/06/2010 19:33

So what does it look like?
