Cleansers - what sort do you use, and what kind of skin do you have?

Cream cleanser, cleansing water, something else?

And do you rinse your face after cleansing and before moisturiser or not?

You absolutely must buy Bioderma Créaline Solution Micellaire - in any good pharmacy or parapharmacy. My skin is revolutionised!

No rinsing. I use the Créaline eye cream and Avène extra rich moisturiser.

castille · 15/06/2010 09:12

Really?

Revolutionised in what way?

I have quite sensitive skin usually, and it tends to dryness - and I swear that I have fewer wrinkles and much younger looking skin. Even my (sceptically English) mother is convinced and asks me to export the stuff to her. It's both incredibly thorough and incredibly gentle.

I saw a friend the other day who I hadn't seen for 3 years and, after about half an hour, she suddenly said to me "What have you done to your skin to make it look so fantastic?" She was imagining Botox or something

castille · 15/06/2010 09:24

Crumbs, sounds too good to be true!

DD1 uses a Bioderma cream cleanser (recommended by a parapharmacie saleswoman) on her ultra sensitive skin, but I've never tried it.

I tried cleansing waters in the past and found them too drying so have been using a cream cleanser - my skin is dryish and very delicate. I always rinse though because I don't like the film of grease they leave behind, which probably negates all the benefit!

Bonsoir · 15/06/2010 09:31

Try it - I know what you mean about the Eaux Micellaires being drying in general, but this one really is the opposite! And it's cheap - there are offers all over the place with two bottles for about EUR 18, and a bottle lasts for ages.

castille · 15/06/2010 09:38

Ok then, you've convinced me. I'll try it, see if anyone notices!

DD2 took a sneaky photo of me at the weekend and it was frightening, so now might be the time to try miracle cures...

I just Simple cleansing wash on my dry/sensitive skin and its brilliant. Ive tried practically everything and I used to like Dermalogica. In my opinion, its the moisturiser that counts and the Chanel one has worked absolute miracles for me. Everyone compliments me if they havent seen me for a while. If you have dry skin its amazing.

castille · 15/06/2010 10:17

Which Chanel moisturiser kittya?

Hydramax. It is for dry skin, I get awful patches of it and this moisturiser has really sorted me out. I went for a facial yesterday and the beautician couldnt believe the difference.

sue52 · 15/06/2010 11:11

Aqueous cream rinsed off with warm water and a clean flannel. I've used this for years and my skin is in excellent condition for one of my advanced years, even if I do say so myself. It costs next to nothing. I use clinique superdefence with an spf 25.

BalloonSlayer · 15/06/2010 11:17

I use Nutrimetics Skin Clean, rubbed in with fingers then off with a warm damp flannel. No toner but then Nutrimetics Nutrimoist. I notice the difference when I run out and have to use something else while I wait for more to be delivered.

bigTillyMint · 15/06/2010 11:20

Eve Lom

It costs a bit, but lasts for ages, and my skin(old, dry and blotchy!), feels and looks much better.

Lincolnparkafterdark · 15/06/2010 11:22

Tesco Organic Bnatural cream cleanser which I rub in gently and then scrub off with a little soft rubber scrubby thing that came with some ? Loreal cleanser I tried once.

I love this cleanser it is the only one tha
t stops me getting spots and it leaves my skin really glowing.

BTW I have really sensitive/ combination skin which is a real pain as most cleansers are too harsh.

This is very similar to the Liz Earl one but about £4 .
It disappeared for a while so I have a permanent stash as Im terrified they will discontinue it

ZacharyQuack · 15/06/2010 11:25

Clinique liquid soap in the shower in the morning. Neutrogena wipes in the evening. Rosewater used as toner.

I have dry/combination skin and this combo seems to do the trick.

sootysmummy · 15/06/2010 13:23

Eve Lom is good but a lot of faffing about and I can't be bothered much of the time. I like Liz Earle too, v similar to Eve Lom but a lot lot cheaper and leaves my dry skin feeling clean but not tight (Eve Lom makes it feel clean but tight and dry). I also like the Liz Earle moisturiser for dry skin, it is very good and believe me I have tried and tested hundreds of creams!

Pootles2010 · 15/06/2010 13:30

I love Liz Earle, makes my skin feel lovely. Only thing is, faffing around with the cloths is a pain - annoys me having them drying in the bathroom, and when you're travelling if you don't have time to dry them out properly they honk.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 15/06/2010 13:30

Olive oil/castor oil blend is the best I have found. Google or MN search oil cleansing method.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 15/06/2010 13:36

Shu Uemura cleansing oil, big bottle lasts for ages. Tis fab. Have normal/dry skin.

castille · 15/06/2010 14:08

I like the megabucks vs bargain split

My Mum has used aqueous cream as a cleanser nearly all her life and her skin is lovely.

Castille I tend to shell out for moisturisers and eyecream etc and have tried every cleanser under the sun.
Best pricey one was Dermalogica but still not as good as my Tesco one.

SootysMum Boots do a lovely balm cleanser very similar to EL .I sometimes use it if my dryer bits are taking over! Usually after central heating has gone on -its the time delay one and is a total bargain if you use one of those vouchers they always seem to give away.It isnt drying and leaves skin very polished iyswim ?

hellymelly · 15/06/2010 15:42

Well I use Dr.Hauschka, and it suits my sensitive celtic skin, but after reading Bonsoir's post I think I may try hers... (grass always greener in beautyworld eh)

Oumasrusks · 15/06/2010 19:46

Like Lincolnpark, I also use the Tesco bnatural cleanse and polish type of cleanser. It's outstanding - I think it's better than the Liz Earle one. It's completely cleared my skin (I used to get the occasional spot). I have combination skin that's possibly changing to dry-er skin as I'm now 33.
