The conditioner you get with home hair dyes is always really, really good. What's the off-the-shelf equivalent?

It just makes my hair glossier. Or is it really a combination of the conditioners and the hair dye? Anyway, any recommendations for conditioners that will definitely have the same effect?

Boots actually do tubes of the ones you get in the home dyes. I use them about once per week (a tube does about 5 or 6 applications). I think its made by Clairol (Nice N Easy )

Oh really? Must search, thank you

Isn't it the dye that makes your hair lie flat and therefore look shiny at first (until it all dries out!)?

They are good, but tiny - I have long thick hair and it just goes nowhere. Good to know re Boots - will search them out.

I do wonder if it's just the dye making each strand seem thicker.

I buy the Boots Nice N Easy conditioner too. Even when my hair hasn't been dyed (I only do a semi permanent once in a blue moon). They're about 99p a tube and I only get about 3 applications out of them. Not the cheapest conditioner but it does work really well.
