White Company- customer services etc...

returned a linen dress and gave negative feedback on the email they sent- automatically I assume.

They have never been off my back since- trying to call me every day to follow it up. I haven't spoken to them as have been out and not answering mobile.

All I said was that the dress didn't fit, the linen creased easily and dress needs to be lined, and their stock levels are awful- they never have enough size small, the return bag was very small, P&P was expensive at 4.95, and no return label included ( not talking free return, just talking label).

Anyone else had this kind of service hassle from them?

I returned an item recently and while I was a slightly miffed at having to pay return postage (no free returns as part of their discount / free P&P offer), and I agree the returns parephenalia/ form was poorly designed - I was impressed to receive an email telling me when the returned item had been received / refund eing processed etc.

Maybe they are trying to call to offer you some sort of concession?

I hope so- the returns form is useless- I had to hunt to find the address!

I also said I wished I could retun to the shop- they can't do that!

Considering their prices- and they are not cheap- I think the mail order side is not up to much. I also ordered at the same time from Phase 8- their p&P was £3.95, returns were free, and the dress came in a lovely box with tissue and a plastic retunrs bag.

Here's a tip which may sweeten the bitter pill.

I changed my internet provider a while back and set up an interim hotmail account during the changeover. I noticed that when I registered with White Co with the new (temp) email address, but never ordered using it, I got far more tempting offers through - I would literally get 2 emails each day to each account - one with a measly 10% or maybe 15% - and the other (non used account) would get 20% (all with free P&P)!

I don't feel guilty doing this as they are priced on the high side, and I am sure Chrissy Rucker can afford to lose 20% more that I can!

I returned a long cardigan that I had bought last year as holes had appeared in it.Didn't hear a thing. Emailed to ask why they hadn't responded -no reply.I'm not buying from them again.

I like a few of their things but I also think they are more style over substance. I tried a linen shift dress but it creased badly just trying it on, the XS size as extra small and it wasn't worth £65.
I got a much nicer linen dress at Kew- lined as well- for £75.
They sell out of small sizes very, very quickly.

We have had no end of hassle with White Company customer services. We bought some lovely glass bedroom furniture from them for our new bedroom; the bedside cubes went mouldy (yes, mouldy ) and a glass top shattered due to stress in the construction (so a helpful cabinet maker told us), leaving glass pieces over the floor.

The White Company don't want to know - they keep stalling and stalling, implying, but never quite saying, that the fault is all ours and we should run away and stop bothering them.

And then I read this on their website: "In addition, levels of service (across every channel) are constantly monitored to provide a shopping experience that is second to none."

Well their shopping experience is indeed second to none, but not in a good way. Grrr.

I just return online stuff to the shop and they refund me there and then.

Obviously not an option though if you don't live near a shop.

I don't buy clothes for me there though since one of the staff was chatting and told me they were desinged for women of a certain age who wanted to cover their lumps and bumps - totally put me off.

Has anyone ever managed to unsubscribe from WC's email lists? Followed the unsubscribe link (a number of times) and the mails just keep on coming... now all marked as junk, but would like to free up the internet a bit for something good!

purplepeony · 19/06/2010 16:40

tracy You can't return things bought online to the shop- I phoned and asked.

The custoner services lady kept trying to call me for about 3 days after I left negative feedback for them but she kept calling when I was out and whenver I called her she was in a meeting so she has given up.

Purple - well they need to tell the staff in the bath shop that because I've often returned stuff there.

They are very helpful in the Bath store and know me well
