Sun lotions - what do you use?

I need three sun lotions. One for dd who has sensitive and dry skin. Two for me - one factor 30 one factor 10. I occasionally get prickly heat but tan well.

What do you use and would you recommend it?

TIA

We all use Boots Soltan Once a day, factor 50.

I tend to burn easily, and have very sensitive skin, dh has vitiligo and works outdoors, so it is important he uses a really good one. Dds(3+4) both get eczema, and this doesn't irritate them.

I usually put it on when we all get dressed so that it has time to settle.

nivea light feeling sun lotion for us (ds and I have slight eczema)

liz earle we all have pale sensitive prone to prickly heat skin and so far haven't suffered as much. i'm even using on my 4month old babies legs incase she sticks them out from the shade thingy and her skin is very sensitive.

ambre solaire rapido kids spf 50 is good but does spray out at all angles that it covers clothes and anything nearby.

I tried banana boat f50 last week on the dc's. Its the childrens one, hypoallergenic, waterproof etc. It was okay but I would only use it if swimming next time as it is v oily and slippery.

My fave is tescos own. In an orange bottle, £3 or on offer at the mo 3 for £8. I have tried loads but this is my absolute favorite. We buy it for holidays every year for me, dh and the dcs.

We have been using Asda's own brand lotion since it came out on top of Which research. We all use the factor 30 which also has 5* UV rating.

In the past both my dc's have had reactions to Soltan and other brands but this doesn't seem to affect their skin although I wouldn't really call it 'sensitive' skin.

I use Soltan Once 50+ on me and DS, and it is fantastic - was a bit about a once a day, but I burn very, very easily and was out all day on Saturday when it was very sunny and didn't go even slightly pink on exposed areas

PizBuin once a day and other Piz Buin factors.....they rub in well and it's the only lotion I don't seem to get a reaction to

I love the new spray can jobbies. Comes out exactly like hairspray! It's a really fine mist.

Expensive but so quick and easy to use. They are also pressurised so they come out lovely and cold. Instantly dries as well. Soltan and Piz Brun do versions. Also neutrogena too I think. I reckon would be great for kids and it's quick and needs minimal rubbing in.

I've tried the spray can but found on a windy beach they were not ideal and felt as if I was losing a lot of it.

Nivea Factor 50 spray for the kids and Garnier Light and Silky factor 30 for me (its very nice and is indeed light and silky). Factor 15 moisturiser from Tesco for my face.

Sazisi · 11/06/2010 11:56

I rate Roc Minesol factor 30 in spray form, seems to go the kids really easily and doesn't cause a rash.

oiteach · 11/06/2010 13:32

With the factor 50 once a day type creams, do you still tan or is it total sun block?
Also, can you use them on your face do you think?

Just been to Portugal for a week & used Boots Soltan spray in a yellow bottle - SPF15 (I'm quite fair but this was fine). was on BOGOF couple of weeks back.

It was light & non-greasy, worked well & the bottle works upside down so always easy to apply. I was impressed.

For DD I use a thick natural product, SPF 30, but have just run out so will need to get something else soon for her.

I use moisturiser and tinted moisturiser both with SPF15 & wear a sunhat & that works well.
