Getting my long hair cut. . .

. . . eek! The time has come when I need to get my long hair cut shorter.
At present it's a few inches above my waist, but after the last few haircuts it's just stayed dry at the ends so I think it's time for a change.
I think I'd like it shoulder length so I can tie it back still, but am worried this will be inbetweeny with no style at all. Or should I get it cut shorter?
Help - I have always had long hair!!!!
xx

I was going to post similar.
I'm approaching my 30th birthday, and feel I should get a more "grown-up" 'do.

I've had shoulder length, and it's great if you give it some shape around your face.

I've heard on here a fringe takes years off.

If it is really long, which yours sounds, I'd be tempted to chop it quite short for a dramatic change!
It'll grow back, and it may be "your" do.

i had it to bc pre birth but just could not manage it with a baby, its now bra strap length and nicely layered. must more sophisticated looking than the surfer chick look i used to have.

if your hair is still dry you need to change your conditioner.

I've got long hair, but have lots of layering round the front so that those graduate from just under chin to shoulder, and a diagonal fringe.

Looks lovely down, but goes up neatly too, so practical

Thanks ladies, think I need to start looking at some pics so I can explain how I want it to my hairdressers.
Another worry is - having always had long hair, all I do is wash it and leave it, I never have to style it, blow dry it, anything. If I get it cut shorter I don't want to have to faff around with it after I've washed it!!

That was my criteria to the hairdresser yesterday - I have little patience, and less time for styling my hair in general, so wanted to be able to do the minimum and look OK, but be able to do more if I feel like it.

This way, I can dry the front in under 5 minutes, and the back looks after itself. I can do nothing but put it back wet as all the layers go back too.
