that looks good vicar

DinahRod · 07/06/2010 12:44

Wish I had get-out-of-bed-&-go hair however ppl do say it looks thick (it isn't) and shiny.

  1. Blast wet hair upside down on cool setting, using for instance BaByliss 5720U BEliss 2x Hair Straightening Dryer (1 minute)
  1. Put volumizing mousse in hair e.g VO5 heat defence plus Paul Mitchell seal and shine spray. (20 seconds)
  1. Shape with an Remington Protect & Shine Full Volume Airstyler (10 minutes)
  1. Finish with tiny amount of Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops to smooth. (20 seconds)

Too long?

this is amazing, I swear by it. Any friends who have borrowed it also love it!

RacingSnake · 07/06/2010 13:11

NavyeyelasH - I don't understand what that one does. (Not very bright.)

piratecat · 07/06/2010 13:16

that one navyeylask has linked too, it's like putting chalk dust on your bonce after you have dried it, it is really good. they put it on me at hairdressers once. might go back and get some.

navyeyelasH · 07/06/2010 13:18

I don't really understand it either; it's weird. It's a really like powder (nothing like talc) and it sort or adds a bit of chunkyness to your hair.

I use it at the roots then ruffle by fingers and voila. It does eventually fall but another quick ruffle and it's back to looking good.

reviews here and here

It doesn't leave your hair feeling natural though, hence why I only use it at the roots. But it normally feels back to normal the next day if I don't use too much.

navyeyelasH · 07/06/2010 13:19

I meant it's a really fine powder.

I lost about half of my hair after DS3 was born just over four years ago. I think it was due to a combination of common natural post pregnancy hair loss and crash dieting. My hair was long but I had to have it cut to above my shoulders as it looked so thin and straggly. It started getting thicker again about two years ago but it's by no means back to its normal state.

I've tried lots of different shampoos and conditioners and the only ones I've found that make a real difference are John Freida Luxurious Volume Thickening Shampoo and Joico Body Luxe Volumising Conditioner. The conditioner is amazing! It's the only product I've found that really works.

Like you I have to wash my hair every day otherwise my hair is just a fluffy mass and when I've run out of the Joico conditioner and have to use another my hair looks limp. It doesn't make your hair super shiny but it seems to plump each hair strand and if you gather your hair into a pony tail it feels almost a third thicker than usual.

Another product I've found that helps is Batiste dry shampoo. Sometimes my hair is a bit flat at the roots or flyaway but a quick spray of the dry shampoo helps.

Hope this helps.

Crabious · 07/06/2010 16:02

Thanks - I used to use Batiste when my hair was very long - may help me get another day out of a blow dry - Thanks so much every on e

"Resurrection dust" by Label M at Toni & Guy

cyteen · 07/06/2010 19:40

I use Charles Worthington volume blow dry spray (apply after washing then blast hair in the usual fashion) and it seems to do the trick.

YoldieMcGhee · 23/12/2011 14:37

From what ive seen the best hair product around is Jojoba Crystal Wax. Try it www.jojobawax.com/

WhiteChristmasontheSierraMadre · 23/12/2011 14:39

I have fine and thin hair, but it has never looked so g

WhiteChristmasontheSierraMadre · 23/12/2011 14:43

Bugger! It has never looked so hoi thanks to the following routine:

John Frieda Thickening shampoo and conditioner

John Frieda WeatherWorks sealant available from Amazon

John Frieda thickening blow dry spray

Babyliss Big Hair

I leavy hair to dry naturally to about 95% dry after my shower, add products, the Bbh on the hot setting. Voila, shiny, glossy hair that doesn't frizz in the rain, does what it's supposed too and swishes beautifully

Double bugger! That should be never looked so good.

Blame the Christmas two glasses of wine with lunch spirit.

moragbellingham · 23/12/2011 15:13

As recommended on here by another mumsnetter I tried Lee Stafford - I hate my hair the day it's washed spray and also the surf spray.

Surf spray not as good as the first. It bouffs it up without making it flyaway and definitely would buy again (which is a first for me!).

I also use Sebastian light shampoo and conditioner. It's stupidly expensive but notice within a day when I revert to something like Aussie. All the silicone derivatives weigh down my hair and flatten it.

monkeysmama · 23/12/2011 21:11

I really rate Batiste too. I use it every other day to save me having to wash my hair daily and to lift my hair. I use Aveda Shampure too which makes my hair feel really clean and thicker.
