Okay so I had a spray tan today. Not had one in years but I'm v pale and have a coral dress for a wedding on Saturday so decided a light tan would look better.
Asked for the lightest shade (a number 8? whatever that means) ... and have come home looking MAHOGANY!
The tanning lady said it would all wash off int eh shower to leave me a lighter colour ... I bloody well hope so! It currently looks awful, can anyone resasure me this is okay and I won't look like this after a shower tomorrow?

You should be ok I had one last year and looked like an oak sideboard, had shower next day and was as white as a sheet again, not a trace of a tan.

Cabatach · 03/06/2010 18:21

You will be fine - some always comes off in the shower the next day!

Meglet · 03/06/2010 18:24

It should come off in the shower. I did a san tropez one years ago and nearly freaked out when I saw the colour, all the excess washed off the next morning, panic over.

ThatVikRinA22 · 03/06/2010 18:27

yep youll be fine - most of the colour will wash away leaving you with a nice light and hopefully even tan!

Thank you ladies, I still cannot equate this nasty brown ick with a light even tan though. Am having amild panic attack about it and want to jump in shower right now ... except our shower doesnt' currently work so woul dhave to sit in murky bath. I hadn't thought of that

Meglet, I did my own St Tropez once, after being assured by the sales lady that is was utterly foolproof. I was brown and orange splodges for at least a week after, looked like a giraffe, and a badly tanned one at that

Bibi, I have had several St Tropez tans, always come home looking too brown, thinking OMG to myself, but resisted the urge to shower or try to wipe some of it off. As the tanning lady said, it will wash off. DO NOT PANIC (although lack of shower is a bit of a blow).

Whoamireally · 03/06/2010 20:24

I had a St Tropez before we went on hols - even after showering the next day I looked like a tangerine, but the day after that I looked amazing and 2 days after that it had gone!

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 03/06/2010 20:43

You will be fine, the initial bit before you are alowed to shower you always look like you have bathed in Gravy but honestly you will look better once you have washed off the excess.
It looks bad because not only is your actual tan developing underneath but the colour they use to see where they have sprayed is minging.

AGree, I am a spray tan junkie. Always look scary after the deed but next day absolutely fab and the next day too. You need to shower really next day as the smell is awful mixed with a sweaty odour.

Professional tan is worth it for the special occassion and for not getting the streaks and blobs of orange where the tan sticks to the dried up areas. I regulary spray my face and chest as I dont have time for the slap.

Another one worried about a spray tan disaster. I had one done today and wore loose dark clothing like I was told to. However I did put my bra back on afterwards (have since read on various websites you should go bra less) and ballet pumps and some has rubbed off. Is that just the excess and once I've showered will it be OK or am I going to stay pale where it's rubbed off?

nappyaddict · 09/06/2010 09:22

Well have showered today and still look very orange. I hope I am like Whoamireally and look great on the second day of showering.

nappyaddict · 09/06/2010 09:26

Oh and definitely should have shaved the day before of the spray tan. Have a few dark brown dots
