I've reached the age - need light day make-up. How?

I have super, SUPER sensitive skin, which is a draw-back, and has put me off make-up in general. I can wear Chantecaille foundation though (though that's not entirely tingle-free).

I am 39, and starting to look saggy of jowl (not that make-up can do much about that!) - it would be good if I could protect my skin as well as look a bit brighter. Timer in the morning is minimal..

Any tips? What products / regime am I needing?

Looking forward to knowledgeable style-ladies' thoughts!

About five minutes would be a sensible estimate of how much time I can devote to this before leaving the house...

I hardly ever wear much make-up because of my sensitive skin. I like Dr Hauschka tinted moisturiser - gives a nice glow and smells lovely and my skin likes it, very gentle - but it doesn't have an SPF which is a pity.

Other than that I wear a bit of tawny blusher (laura mercier at the moment), black mascara (No 7), and lip gloss (current one is estee lauder and I don't react to it)

That lot takes me about 4 minutes in the morning and I do look a bit healthier with it on. I'm 37.

Great tips - thank you. Bizarrely, I have reacted to Dr Haushka stuff before, which is difficult, but there might be an equivalent by the Chantacaille (£££, but I need something!) stuff I can use. I have never used blusher, but have heard a lot about Laura Mercier... I'm freckly and pretty blotchy! Not sure blusher would work for me...

Thanks for tips!

I use Laura Mercier tinted illuminating moisturiser. It gives a dewy feel to my fifty something skin and has an spf of 20. You do have to put a primer on first though.

specialsmasher · 01/06/2010 19:15

really? I have never even seen a primer, let alone used one! I like the idea of the spf though - I always kick myself when it gets sunny and I am bare-faced!

Thank you.

i use vichy foundation and its mousturising as well as covers quite well..but doenst look heavy,
plus burjuois blush, tiny bit of eyeliner on top (i like it very thin & close to lashline without a flick) curl lashes and mascara, bare lips
takes me 5 minutes if that
(i apply eyeliner with my own brush not the one that comes with it, it makes it 200% easier)

Top tips - thank you! I like the very close and thin eye-liner, but have been trying to do for ages for going out, and am properly rubbish at it. Will check out brush, thanks!
