Do NOT buy these shoes for your little girl!

I bought these for my daughter months ago

I waited for it to get sunny and got them out the other day, they fit perfectly.

I put her in the carseat and we went to the park,

after walking for about 15 mins in them (shes only 18 months old) I noticed her foot,

this is what they did to her!!

Oh her poor little feet!
My ds has the same shoes, but the blue ones with a star on, he hasnt had any problems but he is only 11 months old so doesnt ever walk for long in them, 5 mins max, will make sure he doesnt now!

lanismum · 01/06/2010 13:05

They are really hard rigid plastic though, and actually quite sharp in places, I only ordered them for paddling in the sea with, crocs are much much softer and both of my girls wear them sockless pretty much all summer and neither has ever had a blister, they might not be pretty but are very comfy

Disenchanted3 · 01/06/2010 13:05

I was just going to say theres a blue pair lanis!

She was fine in the carseat, had them on in there for about 40 mins, but had only been running around a short while when I noticed, she had long pants on too so I could have seen sooner

Sad thing is, they were the only foot wear she had that day so she had to spend the next few hours in the buggy ad she wanted to get out!

Ow - poor little thing.

I have only just let DS(7) start wearing crocs without socks for playing in the garden (I won't let him go out in them ). DD(3) has some inherited timberland beach sandals for sploshing in the sea/paddling pool - but the straps are padded, and I wouldn't let her walk anywhere without socks, whatever shoes she was in. Jelly shoes, IMO/E, always rub, no matter how well they seem to fit - I have never understood how anyone wears them for long.

BuzzingNoise · 01/06/2010 13:06

Oh Dis your poor dd! Please do complain.

Stick to Doodles and Crocs.

Disenchanted3 · 01/06/2010 13:08

Yes they boys have padded sandals that don't rub.

I feel stupid now for not putting socks on her.

But surely they shopuld have a warning that they are to ONLY be worn with socks if thats the result? Rather than having 'sockless' photos?

I can't be the only one who though jellyshoes didn't need socks?

Or am I just a numbnut?

OMG Disenchanted . Your poor baby ! .
Id complain about the shoes. At 18 months your dd wouldnt be walking much. Theres no way that the shoes should have did that , socks or no socks.
I hope she heals quickly.

Rosa · 01/06/2010 13:12

Trade description if you say that on the site it shows a child wearing them without socks......

Disenchanted3 · 01/06/2010 13:14

can't find the photo of no socks.

I've emailed them to see what they say.

thecatatemygymsuit · 01/06/2010 13:15

God that's appalling - your poor little girl. I have just bought a similar pair for DD - specifically for going on the beach/in the sea - so assumed also they were meant to be worn without socks. I am seriously alarmed by seeing those pictures so will probably stick to her crocs.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2010 13:16

Plastic shoes plus sweaty feet pretty much guarantees blisters.

DD doesn't even wear crocs as the button bit where the strap fixes on gives her blisters every time.

lanismum · 01/06/2010 13:19

Well when ds wears them, I dont put socks on him, as yeah, thats the point of jellys, dont think you are dim, bless her not being able to get out of the buggy for the rest of the day, actually, have just remembered the only time one of my kids have had a blister, when dd1 was about 2, and the shoes were from vertbaudet!! dont buy their shoes

lanismum · 01/06/2010 13:20

Crocs are rubbish in the sea, they come off and float away speaks from bitter experience

TheBoyWithaSORNedMX5 · 01/06/2010 13:21

I can't see the photo (at work, photobucket blocked).

Could it be an allergic reaction, exacerbated by heat/rubbing?

Disenchanted3 · 01/06/2010 13:22

Its a cut covered in blood theboy, its not a reaction.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/06/2010 13:24

It's "just" a blister which has bled and the blood has been smeared over the foot which makes it look worse. Just thinking about hot bare feet in that kind of shoes gives me blisters!

expatinscotland · 01/06/2010 13:26

I always put wellies on the kids for the beach.

Too rocky/pebbles/glassy here.

TheBoyWithaSORNedMX5 · 01/06/2010 13:28

Ah, I see. I just know I've had nasty reactions to the plasticky tops of hold-ups, and I've never been sure if it was an allergic reaction or just chafing.

It sounds horrible, dis.

expatinscotland · 01/06/2010 13:29

Mine wear Crocs when it's super hot here, though. Not mock Crocs, but real Crocs.

Worth the money, IME.

Bramshott · 01/06/2010 13:30

Your poor DD .

Have to say that my DD's only encounter with jelly shoes was also bad (although not quite THAT bad) so I have filed them away under "things not to buy again"! But of course you're not stupid (or if you are, I am too ) - how were you to know?!

BessieBoots · 01/06/2010 13:32

Ooooh! Your poor little girl! That's awful!

Email the company, with pics, and point out that the child in the catalogue was sockless. I'd also say that "My friends at mumsnet and I would love to hear your reply"- This shoud make them get their skates on, that company has been crap when I've complained.

Disenchanted3 · 01/06/2010 13:55

I can't find the nonsock pic Bessie, maybe I just pictured it that way

Wouldn't mentioning mumsnet be a bit threatening?

OP posts:
LIZS · 01/06/2010 14:00

looks sore but fortunately not permanent and can't really have hurt her at the time or you'd have realised sooner. Think about what you hope to gain ? Replacement, refund, credit .... Just report the injury and specify - no need to get shirty or mention MN unless they are awkward surely ?

SoupDragon · 01/06/2010 14:02

Personally, I don't think the company has done anything wrong. They are plastic shoes which have rubbed a blister.

ShowOfHands · 01/06/2010 14:06

Oh your poor girl.

DD wore jelly shoes once. On the beach. For no more than 45 minutes. She had cuts on both feet similar to the one in your pic. I didn't notice as she was paddling in the water and she didn't complain. Never again.
