Help! Need plain-ish nude shoes

DuchessOfAvon · 28/05/2010 07:47

I have a party in two weeks and I have made myself a tunic dress.

I envisaged it with a plain, heeled, nude court shoe as the dress is quite sculptural and can't take any competition from a frou-frou or busy shoe. But I can't find any thing suitable. Nor do I have time to schlepp round the shops.

So can I ask if anyone has seen such a thing in their shopping travels so I can sprint to town with the baby on a lightening shopping raid?

Oh - and I didn't want to spend oodles of cash. It seems to negate the point of making the dress if I then spend a small fortune of the shoes.

I'd be ever so grateful.

I'm stunned at your magnificence in sewing your own dress and have nothing more useful to add. Sorry.

DuchessOfAvon · 28/05/2010 08:27

Aahh! But I didn't say it was a good dress.

theses sound like they fit your criteria?

a bit more fancy but lovely

I am also very impressed by your dressmaking skills! Any chance of a pic of your dress?

CMOTdibbler · 28/05/2010 09:07

I got a pair of v plain ones from New Look, and they are really nice

DuchessOfAvon · 28/05/2010 09:10

Ooh! I would never have thought about Dotty P. Those first ones are pretty close to what I'd envisaged - perhaps a leetle too high. But at least I have somewhere to start.

I have never stuck up a pic - let's try.

This is what it started life as

And here it is now

CMOT - I did grab a quick peek in New Look but they were all very fancy.

Here if you're a 6... may be more in store, they had another pair no longer on their website which would do the trick...

DuchessOfAvon · 28/05/2010 09:22

Do you think these would go?

newlook wedges

They had them in my local store without the bow thing on too.

Great dress BTW

tethersend · 28/05/2010 09:32

Bugger. Will keep looking.

Purplebuns · 28/05/2010 09:33

These are not quite what you are looking for but they are so lovely on, and very comfy!

Here they are, a bit fleshier coloured in RL

Longtalljosie · 28/05/2010 09:33

I got some in Debenhams

Here you go...

tethersend · 28/05/2010 09:34

Any good?

tethersend · 28/05/2010 09:42

a bit different?

DuchessOfAvon · 28/05/2010 09:59

Oooh! Barratts! Why didn't I think of them? Gawd - you can see how long it is since I did any serious shoe shopping. In fact, its been so long since I went to town I am having to use store locators to remember where these places are!

Not so sure about the Shelleys ones. And my Clarks didn't have anything remotely like those - I always see other people with gorgeous Clarks things but can never find them myself.

I am ever so grateful - and for the positive reception for the dress. I am a novice at this whole wardrobe refashioning lark.....
