Garden Party - Desperate and clueless!

I am off to a garden party at Buckingham Palace and I have no idea what to wear. Everything is pale colours which I cannot wear. Or everything I own which is suitable it black which I do not want to wear.
I am a size 18 and need to get the entire outfit from hat to shoes.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciative.

When are you going? I am going to one in June. I've not decided what to wear either but saw some nice dresses in Phase -eight

I am going in July, wearing a floral Toast dress I got on ebay, Bailey Tomlin hat with rose on it, dusky pink bag and either a jigsaw cardigan with silk facings and a silk "bustle" at the back or my mother's vintage jacket she wore once in 1962. It is the shoes that worry me, everyone who has ever been says they must be comfortable, and they also say they must be ver glamarous too - and the only ones I like are black - which I don't like - has anyone been before and can give the deininitve word on shoes?

Actually I cannot remember what date. I have lost my diary. When the ticket comes I will find out ´.
I was going with a friend who has now had to pull out so I am going alone .

I know what I want to wear but since I have left it so late I can't find anything. I really wanted to go in a 50's style tea dress with hat, gloves the whole shebang.

I work for a charity that Princess Anne is patron of, so a group of us have been invited to the one on 1 July that is to celebrate her 60th birthday.

Or if you are Australian (or from NZ as well) you can apply for a ticket. You must provide references though.
