I really struggle with a summer wardrobe, I'm much more a tights and boots gal myself....

Summer always causes me problems. I can put together a winter outfit but summer leaves me clueless.

Come and share your summer wardrobe staples with me please....

I got mine at Gap and they have various styles and prints.

MarineIguana · 24/05/2010 21:55

mine's like this but a pink/orange print.

Champagne: don't buy boden from boden, except in the sales!

You might have to order a few things but once you know which sizes & styles you like you can usually get new/nearly new things on ebay for about 1/2 price !

janeite I went to M&S today to look for those autograph weekend linen trousers, and they didn't have them... however I picked up these which are FANTASTIC- they are much longer in rl actually ankle length on me and they fit so nicely... I only picked them up in passing to try on with this top which despite being polyester is actually lovely.

And this which is 100% cotton, but the colours didn't work on me...

I did also get a linen top from gap that is nice- squarish neck, not too low cut, short sleeves, pale grey (much better for me than white)

Nice outfit! Will go and check out the trousers - are they true to size?

CaptainNancy · 25/05/2010 22:33

Um... good question... they seem to be true to M&S sizes, ie big! I am wearing the 10s, and they are v comfortable, but if I went back to January's weight they would be big I have put a little weight back on since returning to work.
The length is just perfect though... I am completely channeling Audrey Hepburn (obv in Funny Face, boom boom) or Grace Kelly in to catch a thief...

I saw a skirt you might like too btw, forgot last night.

janeite · 26/05/2010 17:06

The skirt shape is very me - you have forgotten that I am a bit scared of blue though!

I will investigate the trousers - God, I love Audrey Hepburn.

CaptainNancy · 26/05/2010 20:07

Its much paler grey actually- colour on website is too bluey.

CaptainNancy · 26/05/2010 23:15

You don't like blue? I think I have missed that one... I was going to ask what you thought of this one...

or this?

Not sure why I'm looking really... I so rarely wear skirts...

janeite · 28/05/2010 16:07

I saw the grey one (that isn't blue!) irl life yesterday and thought it was lovely. I also saw the first one you've just linked to and it is quite nice too.

Stop linking to skirts - I have rails full of skirts and no tops to wear with them!!

Why don't you wear skirts? You would look lovely in skirts!

GreatOrmondSt · 28/05/2010 16:35

I agree with the maxi dresses but not if you're very short because they can drown you. Wide leg linen trousers are always good and floaty skirts might be nice. Summer's so much better for clothes! In winter it's just jumpers and trousers.
