I have heard it is good but have never used an epilator before, so just wondering if it is painfull? Also does it really take out small hairs?

I've got An epilator but it is so sore! And I mean worse than waxin my bikini line! Thinking of getting rid of it as I haven't used it in ages.

slightly painful but that's all - far less painful than a bikini wax!! Although I have the wet/dry - a fairly recent and expensive model - I have heard that older cheaper versions are a bit ouch...

js1000 · 21/05/2010 13:22

Yeh, it was quite painful first couple of times but its getting better now as my skin is getting used to it.
I can never think of using it on bikini line but i do use it on underarms n legs.
what i really love about it is the results last long even longer then wax without any ingrowth hair problem.
I am happy with mine

I love mine and don't find it painful, but then again I have been waxing for years. I go this one, which is also a shaver, and am really pleased with it.

aGREE ingrowing hairs don't seem to be a problem

less painful to use if hairs are shorter to start with ime but pain factor is less than waxing

mrsflux · 21/05/2010 14:11

i get loads of ingrowing hairs too!

either mine is poop or i'm doing something seriously wrong!

dia2010 · 21/05/2010 15:58

what say ladies?

Bobbalina · 21/05/2010 16:37

have you got an old and cheap one mrsflux?

mrsflux · 21/05/2010 20:11

It's a Braun silk epil soft something I think. It's 5 years old but even when new was v painful. Wasn't cheap at the time!

returningstress · 21/05/2010 21:51

I'm not too sure if I should get one or get the boots home laser system.

When my legs are waxed the hair starts to grow back after a couple of days. After a week I cannot wear a skirt again.

Does it take a long time to use it on your legs?

Takes 5 to 10 mins a few times a week.

Mine cost about £90, I bought it on the basis of mumsnet recommendation and it is the Braun wet dry silk epil, I tend to use it dry though.

returningstress · 21/05/2010 23:38

But would you say you are hairy? As my hairs are very dark and corse. At the moment I would have to shave every other day or everyday to have smooth legs, but cannot do that because of shaving rash.

I've just bought the new braun silk epil 7 wet dry one, there is a special offer on at boots.
I have only used it dry but it is less painful than my 10 year old philips satinelle
I have dark hair and it has got a lot finer since using the epilator.

If you find it painful take a nurofen or paracetamol about 20 minutes before hand helps.

bruffin · 21/05/2010 23:54

I have this one

Bobbalina · 22/05/2010 06:56

I have that one too and think it is worth the money. I am blonde and naturally not very hairy though to answer your question. Maybe you could have a go with a friends one before you buy?
