If you were going to a wedding in July, without dc, what would you wear?

... with links please

I always read the threads here but feel a bit lost for myself so I'm looking for inspiration.

I have 2 dresses that I have been wearing to weddings for the last.... um... 10 years Knee length, bias cut, one with pattern and more summery, one without and in a darker shade that I wear for winter weddings.

I'm sick of them. Want something new and finally have a wedding to go to without being pregnant or bf'ing.

So what would you buy to wear? Preferably with a view to wearing it to more than one wedding/event over the next few years so not too Of The Moment if possible.

If it helps (though I'm asking what you would wear for yourself not for me), I'm 36, 10/12 edging towards a 12 these days, super super pale, dark hair, 5'6, flat-chested

With links please as I have no imagination without a visual

give us a clue here - what size/shape/colouring are you? What kind of style - classic/bit bohemian? do you like wearing heels. and what budget?

sleepwhenidie · 21/05/2010 12:03

x post!

Well the point is not for people to recommend to me, more for people to link to things they would choose for themselves (so I can get ideas generally)

My style is primarily the been-up-for-half-the-night-slightly-harrassed-all-day look.

I work on it constantly

Something I could get very drunk in without showing my knickers or boobs.

Ivykaty44 · 21/05/2010 12:07

something simple

or more fussy or patterned?

NorkilyChallenged · 21/05/2010 12:08

Libra! I think I should book one of those personal shoppers just so I can give that as my criteria! (am total lightweight so would just fall asleep or be sick out of my nose if I even attempted more than 2 drinks)

Nikki - that is very pretty

Ivykaty - I don't know what I like, but what would you go for? For yourself, I mean.

ascot/wedding outfir for £50

MiaWallace · 21/05/2010 12:12

I love this

Ivykaty44 · 21/05/2010 12:14

I like classic..and a big hat

BallpointPen · 21/05/2010 12:14

I have a wedding in July to go to and am considering this dress or something similar.

Fever Designs have some pretty dresses. I've not bought from there before so don't know about quality or fit but am thinking about trying them.

NorkilyChallenged · 21/05/2010 12:15

Ooooh Mia, very glam!

Ivykaty - am actually quite impressed at the £50 outfit (once I realised you hadn't suggested the giant lampshade hat!)

Anyone else?

If I wanted something special, to last a few years I would go for

this

or

this

sleepwhenidie · 21/05/2010 12:30

This - Clematis (the lilac one, no 10, scroll to right) is gorgeous too , depending on how brave you are with cleavage - you could poss put a stitch in front if too low but its a beautiful colour and looks lovely on pale model and I think would be even nicer with dark hair...

here

Rindercella · 21/05/2010 12:40

Have just bought this - simple and v elegant imo. Mind you, the weddings/christening I'm going to will be with DDs, and I will be b/fing one of them!

KnottyLocks · 21/05/2010 12:42

What's your budget?

Any colours to avoid?

KnottyLocks · 21/05/2010 12:49

This is nice and quite classic

dexter73 · 21/05/2010 12:54

I like these dresses from Phase Eight - this and this. 20% off online with code ELV22.

NorkilyChallenged · 21/05/2010 12:56

Oh thank you all for links, that's great!

I don't really want to make this about me because I'm really awkward picky and have lots of stupid preconceived ideas about what I can and can't wear.

Instead, I'm enjoying looking at what you would like for yourselves.

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 21/05/2010 12:59

Oh Dexter, I actually tried a dress like that on in Phase Eight a month or so ago (it was red floral rather than purple but not sure I can find it again but then Tethersend burst my balloon by saying it was something her aunty would wear to a wedding

20% off is good though

OP posts:
dexter73 · 21/05/2010 13:50

Maybe her aunty is actually really cool !!
