I have fallen in love with this dress;

www.janenorman.co.uk/fcp/product/buy-fashion-look-fabulous/dresses/bandeau-stripe-border- prom-dress/8763?colour=white

AND it's just been reduced but is it too white to wear to a wedding?

Yes I would say so

Looks very "Coast"

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/05/2010 13:01

yes it is lovely - perfectly acceptable for a wedding.

A friend of ours wore a similar dress to a wedding and it was fine. Got enough black in it for it not to look like a bride.

traceybath · 21/05/2010 13:10

Yes its lovely.

mrsflux · 21/05/2010 13:12

Hmm- depends on what the brides like IMO. If she's the type to get stressy and wound up over the wedding then no. If she's pretty chilled then it's fine.
Maybe wear with bright accessories so even less bridey.

notasize10yetbutoneday · 21/05/2010 13:26

Thats lovely. Someone wore something very similar to my wedding and I definitely didnt have a problem with it. I second with bright accessories as Mrs Flux suggested .

Thanks for the help ladies I've never met the Bride but I get the impression she's not the bridezilla type so hopefully it'll be ok

Now I just have to find a Jane Norman which stocks it (couldn't find it today)

Nice for a wedding, but I think the horizontal bands at the bottom could cut our height in two no matter how tall you are.

mathanxiety · 21/05/2010 18:00

gaaaagh, Your height... not our

mumto2andnomore · 21/05/2010 18:46

I think its just about ok for a wedding-dont wear it with white accessories though

WhatsAllThisThen · 21/05/2010 18:59

Should be ok but borderline - I would consider someting else to be on the safe side.

goodnightmoon · 21/05/2010 20:41

i don't see any borderline. What bride is going to wear that as a traditional dress? It's perfectly lovely and I can't imagine anyone would think it has bridal connotations.

ThisIsJustTheStart · 21/05/2010 21:03

I would always err on the side of caution when it comes to dressing for a wedding. If I thought something may be too white I wouldn't wear it. But it may be that I am unduly paranoid.

MintyMoo · 22/05/2010 15:11

My Mum can't decide if she'd brave it or not - I think I'll ask my brother if he thinks his fiance will mind or not.

It is beautiful though and no-one would be likely to wear it as a bride - but then some people are very funny about white at weddings - the last wedding I went to I wore a tiny amount of white on my mainly black top and endured remarks of 'has anyone mistaken you for the bride yet?'

Gah, I hate weddings ;)
