Do you know the way to St Tropez?

So, close inspection of my legs have revealed a pair of milk bottles. Before I blind passers-by with the glare, I was thinking of investing in St Tropez - but which one? Any advice/recommendations?

Thanks

I've heard the daily build-up tanner is really good. The lotion is a bit different from normal fake tans - you need to smear it on and not try to blend it (it will look streaky but that's ok - as if you've had a mud bath) just smooth it on and then wash the next day. It marks sheets etc but it does wash out.
I've never tried the mousse.
A friend of mine uses the spray all the time and loves it - just a daily mist is enough to keep her tan topped up.
I do find the St Tropez tan wears off in patches if you're not careful to exfoliate every day.

I personally like the Boots No.7 aerosol spray tanner - NOT number 17, must be the No.7 one. Also quite like the Lancome Flash Bronze spray.

I love the St Tropez gradual tanner. Its fab. Very natural and not streaky.

xkaylax · 19/05/2010 13:35

The moose is fab i always use it.

Get some exfoliating gloves, the st tropez gloves and a big bottle of moisturiser like vaseline etc

exfoliate, moisturise then rub moose onto skin in a downward motion starting at feet and thats it really

Sometimes i pat my feet knees and elbows after with a towel as can go too dark there.

And dont forget to tan hands and be careful with bedding as it will rub of on that but it does wash of though. Best doing it at night and shower in morning

I dont really like the gradual didn't really make a difference but i did get the light one though

St tropez is fab though as it doesn't smell like normal fake tans

I bought some gradual the other day (the lighter one) and I have to say it is VERY gradual but then I am very pale so I'm OK with that. But it's not streaky or orangey so thumbs up for that. I also bought the St Tropez gradual tan for face and that hasn't actually made any difference so I'm less impressed with that.

emsyj · 19/05/2010 14:07

I wouldn't worry about white sheets, all of my sheets are white 100% cotton and I've never got a fake tan on them that hasn't washed off! I wash them at 60 degrees tho, so fairly hot.

LaBellaSantaCatarinadiSienna · 19/05/2010 14:08

Ooh... I was just veering towards the gradual one and also the lighter one as I'm fair.. Hmm.. Maybe it would be good to start off with and hope that I catch some sun at the weekend!

I am about to use the gradual tan tonight- I too am milky white and EVERYTHING goes orange.
So we will see.

jenduff · 20/05/2010 09:58

so whats the verdict deaddei?

scratchmyback · 20/05/2010 11:06

i quite like the St Tropez Everyday - it is a gradual tan. However, I hacven't tried any others so can't compare it.

deaddei · 20/05/2010 11:27

There is a slight change of colour, and I can see a bit on my shins I didn't rub in properly-bugger.
Woke up in the night and smelled "the smell".
Will reapply tonight.

ClaireDeLoon · 20/05/2010 11:32

Yes people said to me that St Tropez everday doesn't smell fake tan like but I think it does. What colour are you using?

OrmRenewed · 20/05/2010 11:32

No.

But I have google maps.

deaddei · 20/05/2010 14:57

The palest.

Ladyem · 20/05/2010 16:59

Another vote for the every day gradual tan! Smells so much nicer than the other brands and is a lovely colour when it develops. Also, I just rub it on without really taking notice of where it goes, just like I would a normal moisturiser and it doesn't streak at all.

LaBellaSantaCatarinadiSienna · 20/05/2010 17:30

Well I went out (Orm - without the aid of google maps or my satnav) and bought the gradual tan so will apply tonight, and possibly tomorrow morning!

THE Mousse is great for an even good tan, in a few hours. But it does smell while it develops, altho not as badly as some I ahve tried. But I prefer the colour of the mousse before you wash it off IYSWIM.

GeorginaWorsley · 20/05/2010 18:07

Me too Cyb.

deaddei · 22/05/2010 08:07

3 applications now of gradual tan, and not bad.
I think the problem is my legs, rather than the tan- I have very bony legs below the knee, and the colour is better on my (fleshier) thighs.
Ah well, I actually wore cropped trousers yesterday for the first time and people didn't run away screaming.

Ladyem · 22/05/2010 13:26

I've done 2 applications of the gradual tan this week and I'm now looking more healthy!!! Think I may invest in the facial tan as well as my face needs a bit of a boost!

I know what you mean about the bony legs!! The skin on my lower legs is almost translucent!! Add to that the many bruises from pushing the buggy and It's not a good look!!! I'm hoping the tan will help to disguise some of it!!

BelleDameSansMerci · 22/05/2010 13:35

I've tried everything... I think the gradual St Tropez one is very good if you're not in a hurry to be brown. If you're going for the fake tan rather than gradual, I think the mousse is the easiest to apply but I would wear gloves.

I get myself sprayed now, though, with Fake Bake. It's great but you might need the fair one if you're naturally fair (I am but have very dark hair so just go for the full footballer's wife bronze look).

St. Tropez is very good. I though MN was involved in an offer for 30 percent off? Am I right?
