Hi

I have my husband's surprise 40th this weekend which is a black tie James Bond do and have really struggled to find a glamorous evening outfit. Think I have settled on this today - although cutting it fine, what do you think of it all?

Dress with shoes

I am going to wear some sparkly jewellery and have not yet decided between silver or black handbag....edging towards black with some kind of sparkle...

sorry not keen on dress or the shoes
how about "this dress www.kaleidoscope.co.uk/Embellished-Strappy-Dress/productdisplay.stm?An=681&A=25S851%5F20&N=678+42949 67143+739+681+746+4294963691&Nao=48&Au=P%5FMasterItem&Nu=P%5FMasterItem&Ns=P%5FColour%7C0%7C%7CP%5FS ize%7C0#", in mink with "those www.next.co.uk/shot.asp?extra=sch&b=X45&p=74&s=24&n=women", or in black with "those www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/30/6?extra=sch&n=women these shoes would be much easier to wear as they are strapped round the ancle

UnrequitedSkink · 18/05/2010 20:52

Unless you are strikingly slim that dress could look a bit frumpy and wide IMO...

UnrequitedSkink · 18/05/2010 20:54

What about this dress? Very Bond...

unltd · 18/05/2010 20:58

really like both

LynetteScavo · 18/05/2010 21:00

That last dress is only avialable in a size 18.

I think your choice of dress, Fruity is fabulous, stick with it.

The shoes look nice...just don't have too many Martinis, or you will fall over and do yourself an injury!

MrsSawdust · 18/05/2010 21:02

I'm not keen on either the dress (too frumpy) or the shoes (too frilly) tbh. Sorry!

LynetteScavo · 18/05/2010 21:05

Just saying the dress is too frumpy, is not allowed, unless you offer an alternative.

The dress, IMO, is very classic James Bond.

sungirltan · 18/05/2010 21:06

like the dress - quite classic bond. shoes are but chunky and mumsy. sorry - often find next a bit watered down and safe

LynetteScavo · 18/05/2010 21:09

I prefer these shoes

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 18/05/2010 21:11

Love the dress - very Narciso Rodriguez and classy.

Fruitysunshine · 18/05/2010 21:27

Hhhmmm...interesting thoughts - thank you. Don't want anything knee length as my legs are naff and I do prefer the glamour of full length. Liked the shoes because of the black stud bits on the bow which represent my secret rebellious side!

I have tried the dress on and a couple of people have said it was very flattering and gave me a good shape (having a few lumps and bumps!) It also has a built in bra thingy so it gives me a good "lift" hehe!

I tried the shoes on today and they are very comfortable. I need a bit of height as I am only 5'4 and they do that as well as make me comfortable.

I am a rock chick at heart and not a pink/frilly person so my choices do seem a bit strange but I have a feeling it ticks a few boxes - I need the opinions as I don't dress like this every day

Fruitysunshine · 18/05/2010 21:28

Lynette - they did not have that style at the branch I was in today - they are lovely!

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 18/05/2010 21:50

Let's be honest...no one is really going to notice your shoes!

Fruitysunshine · 18/05/2010 23:00

No, everyone should be watching the total look of surprise on DH's face!

OP posts:
moondog · 18/05/2010 23:04

I like the dress-would maybe go for different shoes though.
I don't like slingbacks though-a bit Rotarty Club dinnner dance.

LaDiDaDi · 18/05/2010 23:08

I like the dress but not the shoes, though I find any sling back very uncomfy.

Fruitysunshine · 19/05/2010 00:01

what is a Rotarty club dinner dance?

OP posts:
Paribus · 19/05/2010 01:45

Gorgeous dress, would probably change the shoes though

MamaGlee · 19/05/2010 06:52

my mate had those shoes in a diff colour for a wedding
they're much nicer "in the flesh" and she comfortably wore them all day

moondog · 19/05/2010 07:42
